I pre-ordered today. March is still a long way off, but by then Internet will be back at home for me and I'll be enjoying it from day one. I need to stop drooling over this game and go do something productive, haha.

Yeah I will have to get this game simply for that, because I found TG way after 2142 came out I never got to see what it was like from the release,I am stoked for this now and just hope its a fun game with no glitches and full of EA love and support for the game. Sounds like this game is going to be very teamwork oriented indeed.

I just hope my PC can run it decently enough to play without too costly of an upgrade.

    But.

I look forward to the other intellectual challenges brought on by the new games.
I love the living crap out of the way BF2142 is set up right now, but just because BF:BC2 et al will be different, it doesn't mean the people playing them will be any less smart.

Think what TG will make out of BC2. Just makes me smile

I'm sad that BF2142 will die, but at the same time, I'm ready to embrace a different playstyle, to be a newblet again, to learn again, to start from square zero again.

The new model in BF1943 xbox is 4 man squads and you can spawn on any squad member you choose (ie up to 3 live SMs) or a flag you control
I think this will be the new model for future games, as it removes the reliance on a competent squad leader for the squad to function, it in effect automates some of the skill/responsibility of the current squad leader role
Imagine how annoying it will be if there is a cloaked rush by a full squad?

A single player making it though will mean success for a squad! Defending has the potential for being a complete nightmare. As it is a single skilled recon can break a defence, imagine the full squad having the "SPAWN ON ME" ability.

I hope I am wrong and the game proves to be great!

Looks like it's set in the modern day (or pretty close to it) so there won't be any cloaks I'm guessing.

However, that also means there won't be any wallhack items (IDS/Pulse Meter/UAV) which will also be interesting. It'll change the idea of situational awareness quite a bit, not so much for the guys who've played previous BFs, but definitely for people who were BF virgins before 2142 (like me). Also I don't see one kit being overly dominating (as assault is in 2142) as they seem to have split the infantry dominating side of assault and the medic side of assault into 2 different classes. I just hope they give recon a decent Spec ops gun after the Lambert, to make the kit playable at CQ.

If they have more than 4 classes like they did in BF1942 and BF2, I will be very happy. Dare I hope that the engys get shotguns again?

Ok, maybe no cloaked rushes, but killing and camping a SL = push over. Not anymore by the looks of things!

what i'm looking forward to is putting C4 all over a building, wait for a squad to enter it, and blow it all down to the ground. with the black smoke rising from the ruins.

Yh I see your point, but I for one hope it'll increase the need for thoughtful, innovative and skillful defensive strategies of clearing out the enemy. Defence in this game is a little too easy IMO, as it's usually attackers outsmarting/outmaneuvering the immobile and camping defenders. This way defenders have a more difficult job to do, and I think it'll lead to less stand-offs. I still don't think it's the best idea, but I'm tryna just find a silver lining .

Just to add to the conversation...

I don’t think you can look at anything from 1943 and apply it to BF BC2. It seems pretty clear, from my understanding based on the interviews that I saw on tv, that 1943 was supposed to be the multiplayer module of Bad company 2. And they decided to seperate it as a stand alone instead of a module at some point. Hence the downloadable/cheap nature of it.

They probably wanted to test some components by putting it out there and wait for the feedback (BF Vietnam ring a bell?) before wrapping BC2...

Myself, I love those destructible buildings (and I would love boats + MG stations to make a come back from BF2).

    Power to the pwnies!

Yes, apparently naval vehicles are making a comeback... And the attack helis look awesome. But tank whore that I am, I am most excited by the 'armor perks' that you will be able to customize your vehicles with as you rank up...

I'm gonna get a supertank, name it Shelia. She and I will spread love and cheer across the land.

My gunship and sniper rifle, well you gotta meet 'em to learn their names.

I do like the idea of spawning off squadmates, but it takes away some of the value of the SL. A cool compromise would be the need to have your SL be alive to spawn on others, sort of still lends the idea of control and command to your SL, him being able to request reinforcements to be inserted on his own men.
