Re: recons: the rare demolition players
I think the recon kit has the most paradoxical equipment of all the classes. Its distinguishing traits are sniper rifles and demolitions, yet the sniper rifle is only good at medium to long range, the demolitions are only really effective at claustrophobicly close ranges, and the Lambert fails utterly in comparison to assault rifles. Either way, the discrepancies are very difficult to sort out by most players, and it also makes it very difficult for such players to be effective when they actually use the kit.
He was told that he should not kill, and he did not kill, until he got into the Army. Then he was told to kill, and he killed.

Re: recons: the rare demolition players
Ya, sorry about that. I was certainly not in my best frame of mind while playing. I was falling asleep at times during the round, so that was my fault for not judging the distance correctly.
I must say though, when a huge push of soldiers come across the western pass at South Town Center, do not stand near the choke point where the RDX is located. The explosives are there in order to catch the wave of players as they cross the choke point. I hate team killing, but if I let multiple enemy squads through just to keep from team killing one person, then I wasted everyone's time.

1 person is a wave of players? Dear god, run for it!

Re: recons: the rare demolition players
Most TG squads don't like me running lambert with RDX and cloak/apm. So I never get the chance to play it much. I love this class though, you can destroy such a wide variety of targets in so many clever ways and be a very deadly pointman for a squad. The negativity I get from lonewolf snipers becomes another factor. I don't see why there should be a problem if the recon is with the squad, active and at the right times swaps kits for essential revives.

Re: recons: the rare demolition players
There are many advantages to having a recon in your squad, such as the otus power. However I think the main reason many people do not like having them in their squads is that there really aren't that many people out there that are good at it. Yes if they are used right they are useful, but if they are not good then it is just a huge waste of time that generally ends up in lots of team kills and a sad squad leader.

That's true, players who are not familiar with this kit can cause some serious team damage. I've had many people though judge me before seeing my skills with this kit and that is just unfair.

Re: recons: the rare demolition players
I get tired of the doing medic horde from time to time, so i do some apm/rdx/sniper on flags/chokepoints for mixing up my gameplay and having some good old fun. It's a valid tactic if you have other classes around that can do the rest.

Re: recons: the rare demolition players
I love to run recon with Lambert, APM/RDX or APM/Cloak, my K/D for these weapons is pretty good, placing APM's in corners at an angle works well, they also work well placed back to back in and around flags or behind crates, under vehicles and around areas on flags that most people run to for cover, stairs are great also, especially if there is more than one level, placing an APM at the top corner of the first set of stairs works good, also works pretty well placing them on the ground behind the stairs, like on columns on shingle, the stairs catches some of the blast, but the mines are hard to spot, and top it off with RDX at the top of the same stairs as your second line of defence, also works well on the stairs on central camp on camp G.

Don't read too much into your K/D ratio- it's misleading. See the thread below.

haha, besiege...no worries, it cracked me up actually. I would say its intimidating to the enemy to see their own guys AND the enemy blowing up.....

Re: recons: the rare demolition players
Actually, I've had moderate success with the Lambert in the past and I know others who have as well. It is not the most powerful weapon in the game, by far, but there are situations where it can be quite handy. I won't degenerate the thread into the pros and cons of the Recon kit - I think all of you know my preference already - but I wanted to say that yes, I do use it from time to time and yes, it can be successful.

Re: recons: the rare demolition players
When defending on any map I will always ask (or ask one of my squad members) to go demo recon. Why? Because if you are good with the kit. You can easily defend a flag with just two guys, one medic/guard to keep him alive and one of the demo recons, leaving your 4 other squad mates to keep up the guys who get past.
