Sticky motion mines?
While piloting a piece of ground armor, I encounter enemy motion mines. The warning signs are active, and the motion mines rise off the ground.
I bail the vehicle, throw bait, get back in, and drive off.
The problem is, one or more of the mines becomes glued to my piece of armor. It follows the vehicle and doesn't explode.
Throwing more bait near the "stuck" mine will not make it "unstuck" -- it simply continues to vibrate quickly near the vehicle, at eye level.
Players other than myself are free to enter or leave the vehicle, but, as soon as I leave the vehicle, regardless of the HP, the mine explodes and kills me and destroys the vehicle.
Has anyone else encountered this? It's happened to me for most every MM engagement I've had this afternoon, and I'm wondering what I can do to prevent it.

Re: Sticky motion mines?
You said it yourself - don't leave the vehicle (I'm pretty sure this mostly happens to walkers if not exclusively, since it just floats around the legs)

All the time...
What works best if the player who throws the bait waits for the motion mine to start moving to the bait before [u]reentering[/b] the vehicle. This will seriously cutt down on bugged motion mines.

Love Eroaks try to make it bold and underlined - yet failed at both
Ya the mine glues to your ass when you reenter too fast. Sucks. Stay in outside view with your walker and wait for it to disapear

Re: Sticky motion mines?
Frozen, I actually only had it happen on APCs.
Eroak, I had the same hunch. I think it's because I enter the vehicle while the MM are flying toward bait. The mine becomes confused, and becomes stuck to my armor.
It's occurred to me to try Zellering the mine, just to see what'd happen.

Re: Sticky motion mines?
You totally had it happen on a walker in Belgrade yesterday. Not that it really matters, anyway.

Re: Sticky motion mines?
We had this happen yesterday on Ruins in Belgrade. I threw the bait towards com while PM07SNV moved the APC just a bit. Ended up with three mines glued on top of the APC.
I have a screenie here. You can just make out the mines next to the turret. Not the best screenie ever, but I was in a hurry.

Re: Sticky motion mines?
yes I have seen this and have found (as already stated in this thread); - don't get too close that the mines are activated and floating towards you
- throw bait and wait till they start moving towards the bait before getting back in
With bait and close mines, I find its about just concentrating on destroying the mines, rather than some kinds of timetrail to get bait out and re-enter vehicle in nanoseconds

Re: Sticky motion mines?
heh yeah i've had it all the time, often with 2 hovering between the walker legs... i realise when mixa yells over TS: "Flik, you've got balls of steel again!!"
i really dunno about preventing it after they've attached themself to you. The one thing i have yet to try is to shoot them with a zeller, although that might just seal you and your armour's fate a bit sooner!

Re: Sticky motion mines?
Or you could do what Mixa did when it happened to the walker I was piloting on Tunis... Throw a MMB directly at them and teamkill me, him, and another unfortunate as the full-health walker blows up.

Zeller would cause the same damage than the actual explosion, but you can fix in between. In APC its just damn annoying, especially when you hear the humming noice and random beebs occasionally. In walker the driver can't bail, nor switch off to second seat.

Re: Sticky motion mines?
Yep got that happenning to my walker or tank more then once. It even happens if the gunner is the one trowing the bait and you move the vehicle. I find it success full to just drop a new bait but (in case of a walker) between the legs. Doesn't always work but got me out of the situation more then once.

Re: Sticky motion mines?
Just don't do anything to trigger them, and when the kit they belong to is killed and removed, the mines will dissappear. And don't let Mixa near you!

Re: Sticky motion mines?
I wonder if floating sticky MMs would serve as a kind of reactive armor, to neutralize an incoming Pilum round...
