What kind of mouse/keyboard/speakers/headphones combo do you use?

    Long title

I'm actually going to get a bit more specific, considering it all wouldn't fit in the title.

First lets start off with the mouse. What kind do you use? Why do you use it? What DPI and sensitivity do you run in game? Finally, would you recommend this mouse to others?

Second, the keyboard. What kind do you use? Why do you use it? Again, would you recommend this keyboard to others?

Third, the speakers. Use the same layout as for the keyboard.

Fourth, headphones. Use the same layout as for the keyboard.

The reason why I ask is that these are simple tools that I find many people neglect during gaming. No it won't make you instantly better at the game you play... but overtime I'm confident it will help.

So with all of that said I'll start off-
For the mouse I use a Razer Deathadder. I find this to be a amazing mouse... not so much options wise but mainly because it's just so damn comfortable. I tend to lean toward a palm grip style which the Deathadder favors and when I first tried it out a couple years ago I was in love with how less fatigued my hands were when gaming. For the settings I use 1800DPI, Polling rate at 1000Hz and the sensitivity set to about 5-6 to give me a blend of speed and control when aiming. I would recommend this mouse to anyone that is right handed.

Now onto the keyboard. This one's easy for me because I use my laptop primarily for gaming anymore. After getting by the learning curve of a laptop keyboard I actually prefer it now. Mainly because the keys are very shallow I find myself not wearing myself out over long periods of time using a deep keyed board.

Speakers. Another easy one, I don't use them...

Headphones. Now there we go. I have a set of Sennheiser HD595s that I absolutely love. Great sound through about everything and you don't need a $$$ amp to run these. Did I also mention that this headset is amazingly comfortable? I guarantee after a short time of use you'll forget they're even on and with the open design you're ears will stay cool. http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD5...8907229&sr=8-1. They are a bit pricey, but the younger brother the HD555s are a good amount cheaper and there isn't a big different between the two. To solve the no-mic issue on these headphones I bought the Zalman clip-on mic. The mic is probably my biggest gripe because I can never seem to adjust it correctly close enough so I can speak into it.

That leads me into my second headset the logitech G330s which I just bought a few days ago. http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Gamin...6&sr=8-1-spell. This headset it much easier to carry around to other places compared the the HD595s. The pads on these have to be the most comfortable I have ever felt on a headset and the mic is amazing. I would buy this headset just for the mic... it's that good and that clear. If there was only a way I could attach the mic off of these to my HD595s I would be in heaven. I would easily recommend both the HD595 and the G330s to anyone.

That's it =), I'm gonna try to throw some pics up here shortly as well.

    So very true.

    Mouse:
I use a Logitech G9, with dpi settings all the way from 400 dpi for accurate sniping, which I used to do, to 3200, great for quickly turning the turrets of tanks. I use it on a hard-plastic mousepad by Sharkoon. The acceleration is set to 2, mouse sensitivity to 6. Polling rate set to highest, I think it's 1000Hz or 2000Hz. It's a great mouse when you've got small hands or when you like to control the mouse with the part of your hand where your fingers join and handpalm join. I dislike this, for it makes me curl up my fingers too much. Also, the middle button could do with somewhat more feedback. Sometimes, you don't even know it has been clicked. Also, the middle mouse button when you push it sidewards don't seem to be registered in BF2142, though this could be pc-related.

    Keyboard:
That would be a Logitech G15 v.2 (the orange-lit one). It's simply great. It has a small LCD-screen, useful for showing some info from the current game you're in (will try to post the functions later). In addtion, it has 6 extra buttons on the left side, that can be set to virtually anything, from booting a specific file to registering another key (G4 for Return for example). However, the keyboard seems to be a bit noisy to me, but I use headphones, so I don't hear it (and if I wouldn't use headphones, there's always the sound of the game).

    Speakers:
Although I do have them, I never use them at evenings, for either the neighbours or family members will start nagging. The sound system I have is a Trust 2.1 system. Unsure about the type, though it has the bass-box of the Vivo 2.1 and the desk speakers of the Presto 2.1. It's simply magnificent when I do use it though. Sure, it's no 5.1, it's no pro-system, but for a student desktop it's more than adequate.

    Headphone:
Since the neighbours and family started nagging about my sound and speakers, I decided I needed a headphone. Preferably an all-in headset. In fact, it's the thing that got me playing TG again, for I got kicked before for not having a mic (I found typing too much work :P). It's a Logitech G35 (again Logitech), a usb-headset. It's pretty good. Sure it's no Sennheiser with it's big frequency range, but it manages with 15Hz~20KHz. I haven't had any complaints about my mic (although once I forgot to turn of voice morphing), so I assume it's clear. The headset is a bit heavy-weighted, but I'm not really bothered by it, for it's comfortable on my head.

If it turns out people put on pictures as well, I'll upload pictures as well.

I also use the G9. I just used the Logitech software to bind keys on the keyboard to both the side mouse buttons. It works great!

I dislike laser mice. they get too jittery for me. I am on my 2nd mx518 now. I have the g15 orange keyboard. I find the TS and ventrillo plugins useful and other functions are helpful for out of game stuff too. I have Altec Lansing AHS-502 Studio Headset with Mic.

I have the same experience with laser mice... but I think the jitteryness really came out when I started playing FPS more heavily.

On the contrary I think people put a little too much importance on peripherals such as the gaming mouse (although not so much at TG). As long as you're not using anything that hinders your play (doesn't allow you the sensitivity you want, doesn't allow you to aim accurately, breaks easily, is not comfortable) you should be fine.

I have the side thumb buttons bound to squadVOIP and TS-VOIP. I meant the button that are pressed by tilting the middle button sidewards.
I could try to bind those 2 to VOIP-options, and the thumb ones to grenade and something else though.

I totally forgot about the TS-plugin.

Not too much importance, but it's overrated. I've spoken to people who though the mice and keyboards would work wonders and improve their K/D rate from 0.6 to 1.3 or something like it.

    .
The scroll wheel buttons were the ones that I meant. You can tilt the wheel each way, if you go into the software for setting the mouse up you'll find that you can just bind keys on the keyboard to them. Just pick a key that you don't use often and you'll be good to go.

I love having the extra buttons. It makes for quicker weapon changes for me.

nothing really too fancy for my setup:

plain black Dell keyboard, the small sized one, and a Logitech G5 corded mouse. Just bought a pair of Sennheiser PC161 Headphones, which are pretty rad too combined with an X-Fi.

The keyboard is basically all I need, its a minimalist size on the desk and does the job with fairly quiet keys. G5 gets it done with great control, mine is the one with adjustible weight, and I use the side button for in-game voip. sensitivity controls are great too for rorsches.

*note, to clarify, I do not have a Dell PC - just one of their keyboards that was free from a job I did

I use a Razer Salmosa and a laptop keyboard.
My earphones are Koss KSC75s and my mike is a cheap 5 dollar piece of plastic junk headphone-mike combo I got from Fry's that I drape around my neck.

    Mouse
I use a Logitech G7 Wireless Laser mouse. I like to be wire-free and it does a great job at it. I play most games at 650 DPI, but I play 2142 at 1000 DPI. I kick it down to 650 when using TV missiles. I've got VOIP bound to the side mouse button, and TS to the middle mouse button.

    Keyboard/Gamepad
I have a Logitech G11 but I game on a Belkin n52te Nostromo. The keyboard works well, and I use the macro keys for switching TS channels. I LOVE my Nostromo and recommend it for anyone playing 2142 or any other FPS. I have separate profiles for 2142 and "Steam games" and it's great. It takes a while to get used to, but I love the snappy feel and having everything at my finger tips.

    Speakers
I have a set of Creative speakers, but they are old enough I don't know the brand. They are great for music and such, but I don't use them in game.

    Headset
I use the Sennheiser PC 350 headset. The ears fit soundly around my head and are super cushioned. They are perfect for wearing for hours. The mic has great quality.

You know I agree with your point, because there are people out there that put a lot of money into peripherals thinking that it may be the "solution" to bad performance in game. What I was trying to imply, and my apologies for my vagueness, was that with certain peripherals out there may help you in a different way. For example, I remember other mice cramping my hands after long periods of use, then I met the Deathadder. Bingo, pain was gone. Now do mice that have on-the-fly sensitivity give you an advantage in-game? Maybe. But then again that depends on the person. I rather have a mouse that I can set my own sensitivity and instantly be comfortable with it than a mouse that has no way of changing it's sensitivity and being forced to adapt that way.

Re: What kind of mouse/keyboard/speakers/headphones combo do you use?

    Mouse:
Logitech MX518. It has three sensitivity settings and I generally use the middle setting for everything. The only downfall is the two buttons on the side are bound to going forward and backwards in internet browsers.

    Keyboard:
Logitech G15 v1. I would recommend this keyboard if you can get your hands on it. All they make now is the G15 v2 (orange version) and I dont like it anywhere near as much. It has 18 macro keys with 3 different modes giving you 54 macros per profile. To top it off, it has an adjustable LCD screen.

    Speakers:
I dont use them for much of anything, especially gaming, but if I dont want to use my headset, I just use my monitors speakers.

    Headset:
Plantronics 770. Granted you cant get them anymore but their successor is the Plantronics Gamecom 777. http://www.plantronics.com/north_ame...ts/gamecom-777 Yes, they are expensive but if they are anything like the 770's, which are cheaper if you can find them somewhere, then they are a really good buy. The 770 is the best sounding headset that I have ever put on my ears. Very comfortable, 5.1 virtual surround sound and amazing sounding bass. Not only good to game on, but good to listen to music or watch movies. Also, the 777 looks a lot more comfortable that the 770. EDIT- The 777 can also be used with the 360 if you game on that too.

Re: What kind of mouse/keyboard/speakers/headphones combo do you use?

    Mouse:
Logitech G5, I like a heavy mouse and this come with weights, sensitivity for general combat is set at 500 and the other 2 are set at 1000 and 2000, the higher sensitivity settings I use mostly in vehicles and their guns etc. I have the 2 side buttons setup for weapons 5 and 6, rockets, defib etc. Middle button is set for grenades, polling rate set at 500, it's a good mouse and I find it fits my hand perfectly and is comfortable, I have large(ish) hands but I prefer a standard size mouse.
    Keyboard:
Logitech G15 with 18 G keys for macros etc, it is great to just move your small finger over to G15 to zoom minimap or G18 for prone etc.
But I mostly use the Belkin N52TE gamepad, this in combination with the mouse I have access to all my weapons right at my finger tips, voip, zoom minimap, caps lock, tab, voip, pick up kit, prone, crouch is all basically mapped to the N52, it is a great peice of kit and I highly recommend it, it is also powered by Razer.
    Speakers:
Creative inspire T7900 7.1, they are a great set of speakers but I do not use them while playing on TG, mostly use them when just playing a single player game etc.
    Headphones:
Just a cheap pair of logitech speaker/mic combo, they do the job but can hurt behind the ears after a few hours as the headband goes round the back of your head and it sort of sits on the top of your ears and that's were it gets sore.

Yh I know what you mean, incidentally I also have a Deathadder and find it very nice to use, plus it's so shiny . Some of this extra stuff is good, I especially love extra buttons, but people should always remember it's just the cherry on top.
