This was probably not my first time on TG but an early memory for me was flying around the Verdun map in the EU gunship with the 3rd SFD's ThePromQueen. The whole game he is explaining to me about TG's preference for asset squads and other important things I should know about the server.

I grabbed BF2142 during my first semester in college in '07. I always liked teamplay and one day while searching for servers I stumbled upon "Tactical Gamer". The name sounded appealing to me and here I am...

    Re: First time on TG

I used to be in a Euro clan called IPD (Instant Pumeling Deaths, tags were SP though which stood for squadplay) which was quite similar to TG in its ethos, so much so that some of TG's Euro members used to come to our server (mainly Lyra, Silver and Superfastkill, or atleast those are the people who I remember). Eventually SP died the death as people moved on, and those who remained went to join Monkey Gamers, who are still around. I stopped playing for a while, and I remember when I came back I for some reason couldn't find the MG server and so went on the TG server instead (a server I had frequented rarely during my SP days), and found the un-paralled squadplay that I enjoy most. I just don't really enjoy BF2142 anymore unless it's on the TG server, on any other server it feels like something is missing.

    Re: First time on TG

I've been playing bf 2142 since late 2006 and rely enjoyed it. But at the end of 2007 everything changed.
Most of the servers I joined were friendly fire off, so everyone was starting to rdx-hop. I don't mind to losing in a fight, but only if its a fair fight. This almost made me quit the game.
I started too look for servers that had friendly fire of and found you guys. It was like heaven to see people not rdx-hopping (and ofcourse the teamwork ).
In January 2008 I finally signed up and I'm still enjoying every day I play on the server, whether its a good day or a bad day. For this I want to thank all of you .

    Re: First time on TG

I used to hate this server for its 46/48 rule and no lone wolfing. I used to play on the SWAT servers until the admin banned me for being too good with the Recon kit :P.

Then I eventually tried my luck with TG, and came to realize that this server is like SWAT, except with a more teamwork. I created a new soldier, put down my Recon kit, and just started to regularly play TG servers. I came to admire the sense of humor of the players, devotion to reviving, and tactical teamwork. I used to get kicked for bunny hopping, but it takes a while to lose that space button mashing.

My old soldier was Procrastinazn, and my current is YouHitMyKnife (the name comes from SWAT's love for knifing).

I first found TG when I was first bought BF: 2142 years ago. I had been playing on different servers trying to find some that actually used squads. I eventually saw Tactical Gamer and I thought "Hey, 'Tactical' Gamer, maybe I'll find some good squad play there." I've never gone to another server since.

Haha, boy do I have a story for you guys, sit back and grab some popcorn.

The first time I ever heard of battlefield was at a website called Instructables, some of you might be familiar with it, and I participated in a hobby called "knex gunning". Well for those of you that don't know what knex is, well its a building toy competing with legos. One of these members one day uploaded a model of the Morretti sniper from BF2142. (link: <http://www.instructables.com/id/morretti-SR-4-knex-sniper/> ) It was a revolutionary gun as far as its interior design, and its styling was impressive, to say the least. It seemed like a cool game and a week later I was browsing the pc gaming section at target. 1 copy of 2142 left. Sadly I was grounded at the time. It was there for months when all of a sudden it vanished. I suppose nobody bought it, so they gave it to a clearance store. It was no where to be found in my home town. I wasn't about to go and order it or download it online, (personal preference) so I got the demo. IT WAS AWESOME! Best shooter I had ever owned (well not yet anyway) It was years until I had the chance to buy it again. We were at fry's (a HUGE electronics store) out of town, and they had several copies still in stock. Sadly my dad was like "no shooters right now concentrate on school" A sad boy I left the store knowing my father was right. By now it's mid 2008 and the game was flying off shelves due to unpopularity, (I live in hick country, everyone was more interested in xbox games rather than old, boring computer games) and It was probably soon to be off the shelves at the best store in Indiana, lucky for me its the end of November 2009 and my birthday was only days away. A few computer buddies from my high-school went as a sort of birthday party to fry's. My parents were gracious and let me buy both 2142 and BF2. Over the couple of years of trying to get this game, and watching you-tube videos, I ran into exploding silver's videos and was surprised that people in the gaming community were capable of a mature and organized organization. After playing the game for less than a week I remembered tactical gamer. I quickly looked for their server on the server list, found it, joined in, and had a BLAST! Just a couple days later I joined the forums. From then on its history. Ok that's probably the longest paragraph in history, but oh well. I wrote this so quickly I forgot to put it in paragraphs.

    Re: First time on TG

I'm a computer idiot and Azura walked me through the TG process; he spent hours with me.

Then, I meet two great drinkers (I mean players) Fubar and Jakaleel and they took me under their wings.

I grew up playering lots of sports so team and teamwork is something that I like and that is TG. And three years later, I have played way too much 2142 on TG...

OHH me and my friend built a shotgun gun once, it shot 3 rubber bands at once!!! lol

    ok, here it goes...

My brother's friend (Ben) got this new game and since he lived maybe 2 minutes away we hopped in the car and drove over. Ben had BF 1942 and BF 2 and the new game was BF2142. so we're all excited and stuff. So ben being used to bf2 doesn't like 2142 very much so he gives it to me and i'm jumping out of my chair and stuff. When I got home i installed and started playing, immediately seeing it had no single player campaign i was disappointed, but remebered that BF campaign are terrible. So i play on pub servers for maybe one and a half years? maybe 2 i don't remeber.....I used to play on MIA, and IFOR severs, both conquest suez canal 64player. I love that map. But my friend also had bf2142 so he told me about tactical gamer server and how you guys all strategized and talked and had a good oll time. at first i did not believe there could be anything more to a simple multiplayer game. So one day back in june or july 09' i decided to try tactical gamer out. And I was amazed by everything. the teamwork, the strategizing, people makign jokes hile they shot people!! After that i was a full believer haha. Then I joined the forum and so on. Met great people that were actually mature instead of on other servers had kick fights. One person starts
kick vote against one person then the person they tried to kick sends one on them and son on......it was realy annoying... but i'm gald i foudn you guys!!!

    Re: First time on TG

I bought BF2142 just over a year ago and played on pubbie servers for a year before stumbling upon TG. I had been playing on Timeless Gaming servers for a few weeks and had been toying with the idea of joining them as they were good on controlling cheats and glitchers.

Then one night, last October, as the timeless servers were full I stumbled upon Tactical Gamer and spawned in on Cerbere. The SL I squadded with kept really tight control over his SMs and I wondered why people were accepting his cranky attitude but I could see he knew what he was doing (just about a first for me) so stuck around and had fun.

The next round was just as fun with a different SL who was really relaxed and consulted with his SMs on what they would like to do next when we didn't have CO orders. Two different SLs, different styles, both knew their stuff and got the job done...wow!

Then Berlin started and I ended up as gunner for |TG| Zatoaichi (spelling?) as an APC squad. This was all new to me. People left the APC for us and didn't just grab the first free vehicle..wow again. Anyway we took Crossroads (we were PAC) and moved onto the next flag. A few mortar rounds later it was ours. Now this is where I had my BIG wow moment on TG. We were tasked to defend the new flag. Z kept moving the APC to keep us alive and the CO was dropping supply crates behind us...just for us! Another SM had the walker around the other side of the building blasting away and was in constant communication. Other SMs repaired and spotted for the gunners (wow, that was me!) and Z would call areas to bombard with the mortar. All this while other squads pushed forward as coherent units. No-one got near the flag, we had locked it down.

Well after that display I just had to check out the web site and after a couple of hours in the forums decided to join the community. I try to check the forums everyday and learn something new every time. Even discussions over which gun is best is a mine of useful info.

Thanks to TG and its members for a fantastic time.

My first "TG" experience was like Armored Bears, except he was the one flying me around and explaining everything to me.

    Re: First time on TG

Wow..I'll add my 2 cents to this thread.

I hate online gaming. I tried different multiplayer modes of the various games I was into over the years. Team fortress, Half Life, Unreal Tournament etc... and it always sucked. Just a big, silly, useless kill fest full of idiots.

One day I discovered BF1942 and thought I'd try it out. Wow, what fun that was. It was still a lone wolfin' frag fest of epic proportions. I remember seeing the TG server with it's warnings clearly posted "Teamwork a must or you're kicked!", "Must have VOIP or we will steal your kittens....or kick you". I was a little afraid I'll admit. I could see the potential of the Battlefield series with it's squads, and orders, and commanders, and maps and all the good stuff.

So I bought Battlefield 2 at some point when it was down to $19.99 at Target. I didn't really like it as much as 1942. Played it online for a bit and was still afraid of that damned TG server and all it's silly rules.

Finally... 2142 was down to $19.95 at Target. It's rare that I'll pay full price for a game (all the Half Life series, Bioshock, and Fallout 3 took my money though and man were they worth every penny). 2142 was my kind of game. Futurey, hovery, walkery, rockety, and giant base ship things in the sky! I was totally hooked on this game. So I fooled around on a bunch of different servers, mainly GHF. Still a lone wolfin' killin' fest. I would grumble and groan at all the pubbies "Join a squad dammit! We can crush them if we'ew all in squads". I could feel how good this game could be, knew that crazy strategies would crush the opposition, that my lack of gaming skills wouldn't matter if I had squads to support me.

    ...so I finally tried TG.

People talked to me! People all joined squads! Commanders sent out orders! People revived me! Multiplayer gaming was actually....fun.

So I did the non-supporting member thing. As I got better at 2142 and more into the game, I started getting tired of seeing the server always full, without me on it. When I did get in and started to have fun, I'd get booted.

So eventually I manned up, realized that this is what online multi-player gaming is all about, and started paying for the privelage of playing on this server anytime I wanted to.

Yes, I still suck and many of you steam roll right over me. I still team kill some of you with bad grenade throws, but at least I try to revive you when I do. Sometimes I make mistakes, like buying Borderlands and trying to play it online. Sometimes I don't want to play 2142 and get my butt handed to me in the most fast paced and crazy gaming environment I've ever encountered. (like right now since I downloaded 2 of the Fallout 3 dlc's). I still support the community, and everything it stands for. I don't talk too much on the mic but believe me, I'm smiling from ear to ear and cursing at most of you for being such good shots.
