Discussion: Battlefield 2142 / Battlefield 2142 - General Discussion - TG's BF2142 state - I think its time that we address a few things that are going on inside
I think its time that we address a few things that are going on inside our 2142 community here at TG. Times are tough and the overall morale here suffered worse than any I have ever seen. We have had our ups and downs, and this time its mostly out of our contorl.
The first issue, is lag. It's EA, and there is nothing to get around it. ITs up to them to fix it, or force the platform to die. There was a statement that went out there there will be a fix and a patch... soon. We admins have made atempts and changes to make the server more stable, but all atempts failed. We are open to suggestions as always, but I'm not expecting this to be fixed for our point of view. I rather your time and effort go into suggestions that keep the peace, work on better morale, and overall support to keep us entertained until EA can fix this.
The next issue at hand is people are still playing. I'm not, nor would I expect any member to in this condition. That also means us admins are also not playing or bearly playing. But we are still here to serve. Our coverage is better on 2142CC, so chat reports and not getting missed as compared to before. Please also bear with us admins, we are players and members to that are also frustrated.
There pretty much is a freeze on everyting until we get things resolved, including TGU. I'm trying to have the TGU team come up with ideas or events to keep us entertained in the meantime.
Lastly, we have had a number of hacker appearances by a player: E.Hemingway. These appearances are repeated and over a prolonged about of time. This is about the only time I'm going to name a name due to the nature and number of offences and also because this player is using both a dynamic IP and Hash ghost. Both of which are allowing this player to return almost at will. If this player shows his head, please report this player on site using in-game chat so he can be removed for the time being. Please do not take any personal actions upon this or other players. We are still TG even if they are not.
We are working on a new tracking system for logging and ban lists. PanzerHans has been working diligently on getting it out of alpha and live for us admins to use. This should help resolve the issues we or looking at above and make things more steamlined for us to serve you. There is no ETA of this since Panzer can only work in his free time, but I'm expecting it after the new patch goes live since changes might cause new bugs.
Keep your hopes up everyone, we all all still here and in this together.

Thanks for the heads up Eroak, I have read on various forums and such that the lag may be a punkbuster/ranked server issue, could we turn off punkbuster on the server and try that, it would mean a lot of work for the Admins but may be worth a try.
I know the 3rd are firing up their private server on sunday for some 50 player fun, do you think maybe the TG server could host some unranked, no punkbuster nights so we can get our fix?
nice post Eroak! i thought the 3rd has made good with the custom map night and that should be fun! have u guys thought of maybe deactivating punkbuster(since that most likely is the problem) and maybe password the server and post the password somewhere on these forums?

That, in my opinion, would go against what TG stands for. We are an open community who welcomes the public, and privatization of our server for a length of time would be going against what we do here at TG.

this guy sounds like a bandit lol. Could you find out his MAC address and ban that? I don't know much bout MAC addresses but i don't think they can be changed.
wikipedia link for those of you who don't know what it is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAC_address

There are players that are not affected as much by the lag, me included, and that makes the frustration double. It is sad to see the servers so empty.
This weekend was fun, the servers were almost full, not many tg-tags when I played though and there was no complaining about lag. I think the best thing for morale is to keep playing, if the servers are empty there is no incentive for EA to fix the lag issue, if no one plays then it is easy to let the game die.
The initiative made by the 3rd this Sunday is a great one, I will try to make an AAR video with highlights. Maybe it will inspire someone to play more often.
And I want to thank the admins for their work at maintaining the high standards on the server, it is appreciated. Now I´m back to the game, just waiting for Suez to end (I hate that map).
Personaly i have not had any lag issues on the BF2142 my pings usualy hovering around 110 or 120 so i havent noticed it as much as some others but i am glad TG are looking into ways to get rid of this problem as quickly as possibale for all members who are affected

Bravo Microsoft, you have now surpassed EA in poor decisions and once and for all seized the crown for the worst 'Reveal' ever. That EA were standing there on the stage with you when you did it was...
