Greetings my few remaining 2142 players.

Like the rest of you I get a little nostalgic from time to time and like to think about gaming days gone bye. And every now and then I get a hankering for some good ol' 2142 action. However, the times I'm able to play the few remaining servers are pretty much empty. So after some searching I came across a Mod that does a pretty decent job of simulating a Multiplayer experience in Single Player. It adds some improved AI to the bots (mostly in the form of their aim which is quite deadly) as well as opening up almost the entire library of maps including NS. No longer are you subjected to only 4 maps in Single Player!

I'm sure some of you may have tried, or already have the mod, but in case anyone is interested in keeping a multiplayer feel to their 2142 after the last server is shut down I'll provide you with the info and links here!


2142 SP Mini-mod: *Version 1.5.1* This version of the mod is what I like to call the *base* version of the mod. It has the improved AI, and full map selection. This version of the mod however has it's own kit load-outs. They are NOT customizable (see below). The weapon selection is different to say the least. However, the custom load-outs do not take your current unlocks into consideration, a fresh soldier will have access to weapons that would normally be locked.

***For those of you (like me) that want to be able to select your own kit loadouts all you need to do is copy the Objects folder from the original 2142 (mods/bf2142) and overwrite the Objects folder in the mod (mods/2142_sp_1_5_1) After you have done that open up the mod folder, look for the folder labeled Custom and delete it. This folder contains code that changes the kit selection and load-out screens to fit the mod's original predefined load-out.

2142 SP Mini-mod: *Version 1.5.2* This version of the mod is what I affectionately refer to as the *TG Version* of the mod. Everything from 1.5.1 is included. The only real change is that an Auto-controller (auto-fire i.e. sentry gun) function has been added to every manable weapon placement. Everything from the Air Transport guns to APC guns, to the AA and AT Rorschs. This definitely makes things feel like the days of old on the TG server.

Again, this version of the mod has it's own kit load-outs, you will have to replace the Objects folder with the one from the original 2142 installation and delete the Custom folder in the SP mod if you want to select your own load-outs.


To install the mod simply unzip and place the folder into mods folder of you 2142 installation. To run the mod start up 2142, click Community and then click Custom Games. Or you can create a separate 2142 shortcut, right click, select Properties and add +modPath mods/2142_sp_1_5_1 or +modPath mods/2142_sp_1_5_2 at the end of the Target line. Make sure there is a space between .exe and +modPath!
