Re: Battlefield 2142
does it really matter how big the mech is as long as its balanced?
a tank in bf2 can devastate a squad in the right hands, but, with an AT or an engineer they could take it out without a single loss yes i wouldnt want to be a ground pounder if an ATLAS was stomping my way but smaller to med size mechs would be cool (keep in mind the other side will have mechs as well AND mechs are big, they cant get inside buildings or other small spaces anyway, as with all things i am loathe to complain until i experience it for myself, and hope for the best |

Re: Battlefield 2142
What did EA see the balance sheet from Planetside and decide they can do it better?
MMO FPS's do not work, because everything becomes stale. Without mods BF1942 would have died, and BF2 will die without them too. |

Re: Battlefield 2142
I love the BattleTech/MechWarrior world, but I'm only moderate on anime stuff. I'm very picky about what I watch.

Re: Battlefield 2142
IF that's the case, they'd be better off going with BF2 MMO. We already have Planetside and Huxley coming. I personally would greatly enjoy a FPSMMO based on modern day combat. I could only imagine the fun I would have in a BF2 setting, but with several hundred possibly thousands on each side fighting through a much larger Karkand or Mashtuur.

Re: Battlefield 2142
exactly, really epic stuff, some awosme battles that could span for days, just think of a do fight in the sky that lasted for 3 hours
or think of a squad getting decimated at a cuty, and call for reinforcements, than 5 minutes later 5 BH's filled with people come and totally deciamte the other team!the possibilites are endless

Re: Battlefield 2142
Sci-fi MMO FPSs are a lot easier to do mostly because of transportation. In a MMO the game world is huge and in order for traveling to not take forever, you need either magic (medieval MMOs) or teleports/very fast transports (sci-fi MMOs).
Not only that but DICE has been restricted to real-world content with their last 3 games (BF42, BFV, BF2), I'm sure they're eager to get the creative juices flowing and actually create stuff instead of taking existing weapons, vehicles and land types and simply recreating them in a game. Futuristic settings give you a lot of artistic and design freedom, the past and present do not. |

Re: Battlefield 2142
You can easily create real world ways to transport across a world. You can just use an airplane/helicopter and make the transition close to instantaneous...I think most people wouldn't have an issue with that.

Re: Battlefield 2142
I dont want to majically be at my destination, I want the thrill of trying to survive an ambush while on my way, I want to have the risk of being shot down, then have to call in reinforcements to come help me
thats part of the fun
