Thats why we have to wait and see how they work the unranked servers.

Yet the most basic weapon will likely be one of the most popular, since it gives you a special reward. If you can knife someone, you'll be rewarded with his dog tags as a war trophy. And since Battlefield 2142 will keep track of all your statistics, including your knife kills, you'll have a record of everyone that you've knifed.

Re: Kits explained.

Ugh, the upgrades and kits sound nice, but the teamplay bonuses sounds like another "official ranked" server gimmick.

Yeah a lot remains to be seen with the differences in the importance of having a ranked server with 2142. It sounds like a lot of the extra incentives will greatly increase squad play, at least.

One feature I think is brilliant is the networked battlefield, set on a squad level, as opposed to BF2's team level of spotting. This should focus even more action on squadplay, and keep squads together as they move through the battlefield.

And the thought of having a stealth SL set up a spawn beacon deep in enemy territory is very cool. That opens up a ton of tactical possibilities. Can't wait to see some of the AARs and Tactics discussions after the demo drops.
