    Open Beta 1st half of August ? ? ?

    I decided to trawl google for an hr looking up BF2142 info, this is what i found

    All non EA sources seem to be saying the same thing, 1st half of August

    The best official EA annoucement I could find was from Marcus Nilsson, Senior Producer, DICE,
    where he writes "You will soon see for yourself in the open beta coming out in August. "

    I still wish I knew the details on "how to get in" I'm betting they give the top 10,000 players all invites and leave everyone else out hehe.

    Doesn't an "open" beta possibly imply it will be open to anyone who wishes to be involved? Even if you see mention of '10,000' I would think if it was by invitation that would still be termed a "closed" beta because it wouldn't be open to everyone, only those invited.

    Yeah, if it's an open beta, then that means it's pretty close to ready for release and that the open beta will also be acting as the pre-release demo.

    basically, they want to test it under the normal every day wear and tear on the servers and see what the community says and then do some final tweaking. Im pretty sure as long as youve played a battlefield game, youre eligible. Hopefully well see some more info soon! Is there any plans to host the demo (if and when there is one) on a TG server?

    Right now there is a closed Beta going on with 60 testers.
    Across several forums there is some nervousness as to if the open beta will be by invitation only.
    However, it seems to me that this is just nervousness and people dont want to miss out on a good thing.
    I must admit I was nervous about this for a while.
    EA/DICE have not confirmed any specific details of the open Beta, expect an approximate date.
    I get the impression though that the open Beta will be open to all, and I expect it to be the a big download !!

    I just hope Titan's on the open Beta

    I cant wait for the new squad leading challenges !

    sounds like they're borrowing a page from google and just declaring the first version beta... heck - gmail's been around for how many years now and it's still 'beta'!!

    it's a smart move if you ask me... set expectations correctly

    I think it's great, we get the game early for free and when it's released it will be much less buggy, also, they don't have to spend as much on testing, it's a win-win-win situation!

    It's the beta version of their game that they're releasing for testing. Games have been doing this for years. It's not some sort of mind-trick to make you think all the problems are because it's in beta instead of because the game is bad or something. This truly is a testing period for them. Why else would they give the game out for free?

    exactly. Theyve done extensive testing on their own. Now they want the community's input. Im so glad theyre doing this rather than release it then send out a bunch of patches. Hopefully the community will find stuff they missed (which im sure they will).

    Doesn't make to much sence to me to call it an "open beta" if they are taking invites only. Hmm, just have to wait and find out how their going to do this.

    they havent said anything about invites only. Somebody made that up. They said theres an OPEN beta for all whove played a bf game in august. Other than that, its all up in the air.
