Re: Important Info On The Beta!

If its a Subscriber only beta then they would use keys to lock out other players. However this could just be typical clever marketing by Fileplanet and they may just be getting a time exclusive or something.

Yeah hopefully. I'll try to be optimistic about it.

EA/DICE is really going after all of the money they can get their hands on. If they pull this, I won't be supprized if they don't allow global unlocks and force everybody to go ranked.

Ew... holding files hostage is pure evil. If all these guys were doing was providing a place which gives fast downloads of everything you could imagine, I would be fine with it, but their exclusive deals are the work of the devil.

(/me throws holy water on fileplanet)

Re: Important Info On The Beta!

Somebody could set up a torrent. They would never catch something like that.

I agree it is probably a marketing ploy.

I despise places like Fileplanet and others like them. Nothing pisses me off more than a site that restricts my DL speeds if I don't pay for it. I am paying $49.00 a month for my high speed and now you want me to pay more to DL files from your site. They can all just kiss my butt

You're paying $49 for your broadband connection. None of that $49 goes to pay the infrastructure and bandwidth costs for FilePlanet. They are probably paying somewhere to the tune of $250,000+ per month for that bandwidth, they can't give it away for free.

I realize they are a business and they are there to make money but I don't like sites who want you to pay more money for something you have already payed for. I pay money to my ISP for fast connectivity but places like fileplanet want me to pay more on top of what I am already paying to be able to use that same connectivity for their site. I just don't think it's right that's all

But you haven't paid for them to host files for you. You've only paid for your connection to the internet...

Heck, except for special occasions, they offer all of their files for free at slower speeds. I don't see what anyone has to complain about...

Re: Important Info On The Beta!

I don't really mind the slower downloads, but I hate it when IGN says only paying members can view the high res videos or they restrict videos to paying members.

My only complaint is when they secure content like patches and such and the don't allow others to distribute it. They then force me to wait in line and jump through hoops for something which I should be able to easily get from other sources. THAT is evil.

Torrents are an excellent way to distribute things like this. If they loved us, they would use them.

Agreed.

That's a bit different from "it's not fair that they charge $$$ for their fast downloads".
