Well....I'll see what I can say, and what I can't say. What I can show and what I can't show.

Re: Beta Impressions
You can probably give impressions but not exact details, screenshots, or videos.

Re: Beta Impressions
I've played a bit. Overall impressions? It still feels pretty clunky, but it is a beta and so still needs quite a bit of polish on it. I was surprised at how BF2-like it feels. I didn't think it would feel like an elaborate bf2 mod, but it does.
I'm not a big fan of some of the graphic treatment, particularly how the sky around the Titan gives a white-out effect. Movement needs work. It seems a step backwards from BF2. That may just be the clunkiness of the beta though. I'll often get stopped in my tracks when trying to walk over a lip of concret 1/2" high. And I'm unable to jump over walls that come up to my waist.
There doesn't seem to be a way to change the viewpoint. Not a huge deal except when driving or flying, but I much prefer being able to get rid of all instrumentation when flying.
Speaking of flying, I think they did a good job on the hover-ships. They are a good cross between airplanes and helos. They are quite effective, but (thankfully) don't seem to be overpowered as air support is in BF2. I think of them more along the lines of a flying APC than an attack jet or helo. They pack some punch, but they are quite vulnerable.
The maps need some work. They all seem to be lacking in vehicles.
Titan mode is interesting. I think it will be well received within our community. It adds some interesting strategy to the games and having an effective commander becomes more important.
My controls never save. I have to redo them every time i start a new game.
I'll post more later.Twisted Firestarter

Yes, thanks for stepping up Twisted!

Re: Beta Impressions
Ok, they really, really have to get rid of the psudo snow white-out effect. It's annoying as hell.
It turns out there is a way to change the view.
There are some interesting squad functions. One of the first unlocks available for squad leaders is a squad beacon. Only a squad leader can drop one and all members of the squad can spawn on the beacon until it is destroyed.
Field upgrades are applicable to squads. In the upper-left corner of the screen is a field upgrade bar. When it is full squad members are elibible to select a Field Upgrade.Twisted Firestarter

Re: Beta Impressions
hey guys this is Snail postin from Cali. I think its a great game. The network battlefield is awesome as well as getting bonus points for doing squad objectives. Them along with the field upgrades really maake people join squads and follow orders. Another nice thing is theres no ARTY!! and no BOMBING! Theres a sweet orbital strike that disables vehicles buts thats it. I already unlock like 5 things. Its quite easy to get ranks early on so you can really customize at least one kit.
Oh yea, the guns are SWEET. Each on has its own feel and look. I especially like the PAC pistol. It looks so good. I love the explosions as well.
Overall, i like it a lot and as much fun as im having out in Cali, i cant wait to get back home and play some more! I cant wait to see how conquest is too..

Re: Beta Impressions
I lose connection all the time, which is annoying enough, but the real fun is all those hard earned points go straight down the drain when it happens.

Re: Beta Impressions
You guys don't seem to understand the meaning of NDA.
I'll say this though, the game will get old much faster than bf2. It's MUCH more "arcadey" and faster paced. And holding a perimeter is impossible, you'll know why when the NDA is lifted.

Re: Beta Impressions
This game is pretty fun and titan mode will provide many months of strategic gameplay. It seems to be a bit of dystopia on a bf2 battlefield. I think this game will play very well with TG's rules for 6 months or so and then most of us will be back to bf2 and its mods.
Many bugs as expected to be worked out and netcode needs some refinement, but not as bad as I had feared. My initial impression is that this game is a really great sci-fi mod to bf2 and even those without a specific interest in sci-fi will find it easy to pickup and get engaged.
If your in-game be sure to add Shiner007 and any of the rest of us to your buddy list.|TG-12th| SHINER
