more questions
If SM is spawning on SL who is on foot, do they come down from heavens in pod? and what if SL is in vehicle ?
If squad becon is being camped for kills is it possible to autodestruct it remotely?
Is there VOIP for SL to SL comms?

Re: Beta Impressions
The beacon is VERY useful when placed on the enemy titan. Your drop pod is deployed very high so your squad will drop a short distance impact on the titan and then can enter through the vents along the top or through the rearward entrance.
I usually place the beacon just off a silo allowing my squad to reinforce a silo CP with ease.
I don't believe the drop pods cause damage and they aren't very stearable (unlike the apc lauchpods that are). Mechs are all about motion anyway. To be used effectively they should be charging in and around the action vs tanks which I feel work best at a standoff covering infantry with long range fire.|TG-12th| SHINER

Re: Beta Impressions
Spawning on the SL without the beacon is just like bf2 on foot or in vehicles. If the vehicle is full you get the red circle and can't spawn. Some of the vehicles (flying transport and the apc) are spawn point unto themselves and can be positioned around the battlefield for even more spawning possibilities.
The beacon IS a big target for camping and I have already seen this happen. I don't know of anyway to remotely detonate so yes this is an issue. I've had to grab one of the two person jeeps (extremely fast with a turbo) and race across the map to destroy one of my beacons being camped before.
Same SL and Commander setup with coms on "v" and "b" keys respectively (Yes they are reversed by default just for fun).|TG-12th| SHINER

thanks shiner
I really appreciate the intel
I am so eager to get into BF2142 squad leading and your answers helps me imagine it, till FP give me a key
one last question, well two
If SL has active camo on, and SM spawns, does SL become visibible for a moment ?
Do recon drones or commander scans see through active camo ?
Shame about no SL to SL comms, that would have been a great new dynamic for the game

Re: Beta Impressions
Ive also noticed that the upgrades each kit have for the net battlefiled are very useful. Like assault can tell what kit theyre using, and support can tell if someone used the cloaking device around him.
Best of all, the weapon unlocks seem pretty balanced. I really cant wait to play this with a bunch of TGers like Shiner said. And yea, for now, its fun to just get a squad and pick a silo to defend. Set up mines, sentry guns, etc. Then fall back and defend the titan is hella fun too as most people forget about that and just go for the all out assault of the other titan.

Re: Beta Impressions
Don't know to either. I only have the first SL unlock and haven't seen but one other person with the SL Drone unlocks. I've also seen very few with the camo. IMHO it isn't that useful as it shimmers enough for you to notice (at least in CQB on the titan).
Unless we can get the unlocks functioning on a TG server this game will be a no-go. They are too critical to the fun and playability of the game. I had heard their may be support for the Alternative Battle Ranking system, so we may have to implement something with them (perhaps even it if is just allowing all the unlocks). I definately don't like the "pressure" that needing to have unlocks creates in the gameplay. I even found myself looking at the badge requirements to see what I would have to do to earn extra points. Lets just say it would be to play less constructively for my team and more selfishley. Most badges seem to be geared around doing one thing all match vs being more flexible and useful to the actual team.|TG-12th| SHINER

Re: Beta Impressions
The more I think about the beacon stuff the more worried I become. I think you should have the option of spawning on either the SL or the beacon. Putting the beacon down seems like insta-death if the enemy can sit there and camp it. If I see a beacon I'll just put C4 all around it and wait. You die instantly as soon as you land, on top of that, you now loose the ability to spawn at your SL. AND the SL can't put down another beacon until the first is destroyed? Well blow me down...

Re: Beta Impressions
Can you pick up a dead man's kit to try out unlocks before committing earned unlocks to purchasing them ?
(or even teamkill Snail to try his AA missiles LOL)

Re: Beta Impressions
Yea you can pick up others kits to try out unlocks. Field upgrades are cool cuz you can try out dif unlocks and then you know if you want to get it or not.
The beacon can be good and it can be bad. This is where squad communication is KEY. If youre gettin spawn camped, let everyone know and tell them not to spawn there anymore. Also, if you guys didnt know this you can pick up your beacon as SL just like you pick up a kit. So if you see youre gettin camped, pick it up and haul ass! Its not as bad as you think BHack as long as you communicate.

Re: Beta Impressions
You get more points for being in a squad and following orders. Like say youre tasked to defend a silo or flag. Say an enemy squad is assaulting it. You get bonus points for all actions done while actively defending your objective. Makes a lot more people squad up and follow orders which is a very nice change.
