It's actually not too tough to understand. It just gets really confusing when people have multiple bf2 names.... Hopefully this helps:

(I couldn't update original post)

  • You have an account with EA/Gamespy. This is your "Account Name". This is the name you use in EA Downloader and is also called your "Gamespy Nickname".
  • Each Account name has exactly ONE BF2 name and ONE email associated with it.
  • If you've used multiple BF2 names, you have multiple Account Names each under a different email address!

For example, I have two Accounts

Account 1:
Account Name: WhiskeySixTG
Account Email: -----@yahoo.com
Password: --------
BF2 Name: |TG-12th|WhiskeySix
Account 2:
Account Name: whiskeysix
Account Email: ------@gmail.com
Password: --------
BF2 Name: WhiskeySix

For each account you have, I suggest writing down each of these 4 entries!

To get your Account information, all you need to know is your email address(es), and you can find the other three things:

1) reset your password using your email address:
https://login.gamespyid.com/lostpassword.aspx

2) Login to IGN/gamespy using that email address and new password:
https://login.gamespyid.com/login.as...index.aspx&sl=
This will tell you your Account Name (aka, your EA Downloader name, aka, your Gamespy Nickname)

3) In BF2, under Manage Accounts->Retreive Account enter the email and password (from step 1). This will give you your BF2 name

(If this step returns a BF2 name that you're not currently using, then you have multiple accounts - just like mine, above. Repeat steps 1-3 using your other email addresses until step three returns the BF2 name you are using.)

Now you have everything you need to reserve your 2142 account.

In the veteran registration page, be careful to not mix up entries from different accounts. For example, I first tried using Account Name:WhiskeySixTG and BF2 name:WhiskeySix.... As you can see above, those are from different accounts, so it didn't work... it told me "BF2 Soldier Name already used by another player"

So for you dice, everything was good up until step4. According to your results from step one, you have this account:
Account name: Diceman
email: email#1(@)diceman.com
pass: -----
BF2 Name: Diceman_01
now then if you're playing with a BF2 name "Diceman", you must have a second account.... I suspect it's this based on what you said about EA Downloader working:
Account name: Diceman0001
email: email#2(@)diceman.com
pass: -----
BF2 Name: Diceman

Use steps 1-3, to verify that "Diceman" is the BF2 name associated with Account name "Diceman0001".

This is so confusing, I posted a poll on TG Naming Conventions should we choose to follow a consistent profile.

Re: Battlefield 2/2142 Veteran Program Open!

The main thing here to do, is either A. figure out your EA Account name, you've already got one if you downloaded the Booster packs. Or B. Just create a new EA account on the form you fill out, then input it there. Now just try to remember your BF2 account password.

It's really not to confusing guys.

so in 2142, you log-in with your account name, not the 2142 In-Game name?

You log in with your account name first, then pick your soldier name. (you can have more than one...)

And "Nemesis" is taken as I expected, so I'm debating on how I want my name to be put in. If we're going to use the game's clan tag option, I'm not sure I want to put a "TG" in my name as well.

[TG] NemesisTG seems rather redundant.....

decisions, decisions....and a main reason why I love and hate reserved name options.

Re: Battlefield 2/2142 Veteran Program Open!

Ok, I think I figured out the problem people are having....

Quote:
Enter your Battlefield 2 soldier name and password and reserve it for 2142. You must have an existing EA account to complete this.
If the name is taken in BF2 by a current player, you can't take it from them and use it in 2142.

IE: Someone playing BF2 already has "Nemesis" so only that person can reserve it early for 2142. Now if they don't take it by the cut off deadline, it will be free come launch day for me to try and snag.

All this early reservation thing is doing is letting you reserve a name you ALREADY HAVE and not something new. The only way you'll be able to get a new name is if it's never been taken by a BF2 player. The major downside for most of us is we have self made tags in with our name, and the characters we used aren't being accepted under the reservation process. Which pretty much sucks if you aren't holding the untagged name as well as your tagged one....

Hope that helps.

Yes, your EA account is your main login name. Then like Nem, said it comes to your soldier name. Which won't excist until you create it.

You won't get veteran status by your name, or the free unlock. Its so simple man. lol You've got all the info, now just enter and hit submit. It was easy.
