Yeah, there is already a snail that signed up either for 2142, or already had "Snail" in BF2 probably.

Sucks doesn't it, I can't use Lorian. I am thinking I will be able to eventually though. I registered it ages ago during the demo, it has never been used, I don't know the password, and I don't know what email it is registered to. I have tried all that I can think of but I just can't get it. When it expires for 2142, I will be able to register it, finally.

Ok I had the same problem snail. I kept getting the "BF2 name is in use by another player" error.

It turns out the problem was that the name I was trying to use "Wimpinator, was not associated with my EA account anymore since I had to change it to "|TG-Irr|Wimpinator. I went to the ea website here: EA - Battlefield 2

and logged in using my EA account name. Click on the "downloads" tab and change your in game name to whatever you want. I then entered that name in the reservation page. I changed my in game name back after reserving the name. It looks like the in game name for BF2 and 2142 have to be the same. I hope this helps someone.

it only took me 4 tries to figure out my EA account name and one more because i forgot to re-enter my password after submitting... glory glory.

so i reserved my nickname, downloaded the open beta today, tried to "create a new soldier" ingame using my one and only EA account to log in ... and get "soldier name already exists"... wtf?
is that because its the beta? or did they mess up - again?

The errors on the site are caused by incorrect error messages. When it tells you the BF2 name is taken, it means the 2142 name is taken.

Some poser already registered Boot. I will be Bootis in the next ice age.

So I've been at this for a while and I still haven't gotten it to work.

I have 1 BF2 account, so that means I have 1 EA/GameSpy ID. From GameSpy, I retrieved my account name and password like WhiskySix suggested. When I go to register my BF2142 name, it says my EA account name is invalid.

So, I go to the EA account site. I try to log in with the info I got from GameSpy, and its invalid. Then I try to create a new account with the same name, and it says its already taken. When I go to retrieve the password for that account by entering the account name in, it say the account name is invalid.

So, I've been trying this for a month. I only have the 1 account. So why isn't this working?
