Discussion: Battlefield 2142 / Battlefield 2142 - General Discussion - Battlefield 2/2142 Veteran Program Open! - That's a problem. I never got the expansion packs, so I never use the downloader,
So I've been at this for a while and I still haven't gotten it to work.
I have 1 BF2 account, so that means I have 1 EA/GameSpy ID. From GameSpy, I retrieved my account name and password like WhiskySix suggested. When I go to register my BF2142 name, it says my EA account name is invalid.
So, I go to the EA account site. I try to log in with the info I got from GameSpy, and its invalid. Then I try to create a new account with the same name, and it says its already taken. When I go to retrieve the password for that account by entering the account name in, it say the account name is invalid.
So, I've been trying this for a month. I only have the 1 account. So why isn't this working?
When BF2 came out your BF2 account had to exactly match your gamespy account, for me thats my account Exploding_Silver
After one of the previous patch's a new BF2 account does not have to match your gamespy account, this week I created |TG-E1st|Silver
An EA account is not just for BF2, its across all EA products/games, its just an account with EA. My EA account in just random letters, if you were to purchase the boosters (no point now), you would log onto the EA website, pay your money, then log into EA downloader application with your EA account and download
so the point of my reply is that the EA account name and your superb BF2 name do not have to match
so, try creating an EA account with any name and then reserving your BF2142 name
Wah! What am I doing wrong? I'm getting the "BF2 Soldier Name already used by another player" message, and I've tried every EA member name (including a couple of full email addresses, for the hell of it) I could possibly have used and there's only one of them that doesn't end up with an error saying "FAILURE: INVALID EA NAME"
I tried following WhiskeySix's instructions, but to no avail. I'm 99% certain I have the correct information input into the form.
The only thing I can think of is that it doesn't like my -=[dMw]=- tag punctuation. Would making a new account with a dummy name for now work?
edit: No, that doesn't work, and I just installed the EA downloader and that confirms that my member name/password is exactly what I thought it was. Feh.
(sorry for dbl post - I don't have an edit button, oddly)
Okay, looks like it was because the 2142 names I was trying were already taken (including, bizarrely, -=[dMw]=-Maus), so it's time for a change, and a change with odd punctuation as a workaround too: Silverfish_
Maybe someone can help me with this. I registered my name with the Veterans Program when it first came out. Now I have the demo and when I log in my name is not capitalised. I am one of those anal people that have to have everything perfect so it really bothers me. I have deleted my profile and created another one with a capital 'G' but everytime I go to log in again, the g is lower case. This is really starting to bother me because everytime I want to play with a capital 'G' I have to delete my account and recreate it. Why won't it remember the capital 'G' in Gahlas?
I don't think that the veteran program is working with the demo, so it may work properly with the retail. So your account showed up in the demo? Mine didn't.... I had to create a new one.
I think I have exausted all possibilities. I have deleted the account, created a new one, that works but when I log out, the account seems to turn into a different one. The G is lower case, the video settings are different, it is strange. Then I will delete that account, create a new one with a capital G and it will remember what server I played on last, settings etc, even though it is a totally new account. Then I log out and it reverts back to the old lower case account.
I also tried this. I deleted the game profile with a lower case g, logged out and quit. Then I reopened the demo, checked my account and the profile was not there. Then I made a new EA account and quit. Then I logged in and tried to create the profile with the capital G, it said it was already in use. The I quit again and reopened. I logged in my old EA account and recreated the Profile with a capital G, it let me. Then I logged out and it changed to a lower case G.
Am I not ment to have a capital G in my name!?! Can it not be proper!?! I am losing sleep over this. I am either not going to by the game for fear it screws up my name or buy it just to resolve the name issue.
The whole thing confuses me and I think my confusion has confused you as to what I am confused on. Let me try and rewrite this so you can understand it better.
I log into my EA account name. There I see a profile/game name, whatever you want to call it. It is gahlas, I want it to be Gahlas, I am anal like that. Everytime I want to play on the demo with a capital 'G' at the begining of my name, I have to delete the old profile/game name with the lower case 'g' and create a new one with a capital 'G'. When I log out of the game/profile name with the capital 'G', on the game name/profile list 'gahlas' now appears. This account is different than the one I created with the capital 'G'. It has different settings and does not remember my servers etc. I delete that and recreate the name with a capital 'G' it remebers everything but dissapears when I log out and the lower case profile/game name appears.
It is not often that I encounter across myself when researching a topic. I found the following in a recent article on the uses of ethnography in virtual environments:

Took a gamble and got a refurbished 30 GB OCZ Vertex 1 off of NewEgg for the low, low price of $30. Had some trouble getting the drive to be recognized by Windows or by my BIOS. Had to use a jumper...
It has been almost 6 months now and I am still waiting for the second peer-review report to come in for my next book (this one is on the future of television).
Things usually unfold faster than...
