I've been getting plenty of unlocks, from fallen comrades! I never realized one could do this during the game, after all the hundreds of hours I've played BF2, I just discovered this feature. I've been playing kits which would otherwise take me quite some time to acquire.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. EA is not selling more powerful weapons - at least not according to any reports we've seen thus far. If this game doesn't catch on here at TG, then so be it. We certainly know that no game will satisfy everyone. Let's just permit this title to go where it likes.

Each new 'feature' I run across which gears this game closer to business than teamwork and fun will lose my support. I realise gaming is big business, but there is also a lot of competition out there. Quake Wars just looks like so much the better game with more substance, better technology and less brutal marketing.

I've only had the chance to play the beta for about an hour, but I'm really hoping that Quake Wars is as good as it appears, because 2142 just isn't cutting it...

I'm enjoying 2142 alot. I'll enjoy it even more than bf2. Although xfire shows me putting in around 95hrs so far. So thats at least 90 hours I've played Verdun over and over. So now I'm bored with the map.

im enjoying it too. I dont play mainly cuz id rather play a full poe server with TGers than any other game with pubbies. I truly hope people come around, and at least try to tap the TG potential in it.

I remember the first time I played BF2, I was not having any fun until I found the TG server. Play BF2 on a non TG server with players who don't join squads, run around the map, etc, etc. and see how long you are able to play. The teamplay makes the game shine. The same, I think, can be said about 2142, especially the new Titan Mode which offers alot of tactical challenges.

I've played with acouple of ya'll and we formed a squad and had a fun time. The game has done a good job of pushing the BF franchises forward.

Perhaps for those who have played the beta and not enjoyed themselves, it's that you have been spoiled playing with people who work together and one does not get that with an open beta. I sort of expected this, but I've had enough good experiences in the game that I will pre-order.

I mostly play with the fcw people in the beta. We always squad up.

I was just joking around, but it is certainly the direction EA is going with this franchise. Tight control and in-game goodies for the kids to collect.

I don't blame them, I would probably do that too if I was looking for ways to line my pockets.

Agreed - BF2142 has yet to impress me, and EA's marketing tactics don't exactly help.

This BestBuy pre-order amounts to a new skin...so really not that big of a deal, IMO.

Since we are on the topic of unlocks...in the beta, I've only unlocked one weapon, the Recon assault rifle (equivalent of the spec-ops assualt rifle). This gun is really no better than any other gun, just different. From what I've heard, the assault and support weapon unlocks are not really better than the default counterparts. Is this true? So far, the only weapon-based unlock I've seen that gives someone an advantage they didn't have before is the engineer, anti-armor rifle. I was in a squad with someone who had that unlocked and it seemed to be a beast against armor.

Yeah, that's the way the unlocks worked in BF2 also. It's all about more options, not levelling up and getting uber powerful.

That said, I'm having a lot of fun with 2142. It's very laggy, but it's also in beta so I can understand that. It would probably be about 10 times as fun playing on a TG server, but whatcha gonna do?

Well looks like it is broken at the moment. I know you are saying..."what ea broke something?!!!"

I got my redemtion code and it is not entering correctly. giving some error that says

"validation code doesn't work with the pricing selection entered."

what ever that means.

anyways...I am guessing this is ea's fault and not bestbuys but I am thinking of going back to bestbuy and telling them it does not work so they give me another code. That way I have two and can give one away.

I pretty much have the same sentiments that bommando has. Ill try the demo, see how it all works out, but at the moment im thinking quake wars. Im sure as hell not pre-ordering though, ive lost way too much money in the past on bad games that got a lot of hype beforehand.
