I'm not saying I'm giving up on it totally, just that it doesn't impress me as much as the BF2 demo did.

The BF2 demo was just the Gulf of Oman map and I can tell you I was hooked immediately on day 1 and was happy to play that one map over and over for a week or so before buying retail.

I just don't get that feeling with 2142 and I can't afford to buy everything that comes out.

I'm not saying anyone's opinion is wrong, just that for my style of play I'm not quite sure it's going to be a fit.

But hey, it doesn't go retail for another 10 days so I'll give it a fair share of my playing time and see if my feelings change.

True, I enjoyed the BF2 demo from the moment I spawned til the moment I bought the game, but I'm thinking that's probably because it was the biggest shooter I'd played online (previous experience basically being various HL mods). BF2 seemed gigantic and immersive, BF2142 no doubt has less of an impact because it's much more familiar to us, as essentially an extension of a known game.

Exactly, and like it or not I have certain expectations that have carried over from BF2. I understand this is futuristic by design and don't have a problem with that. I just get concerned when the core game-play doesn't feel right. It's like it's a BF2 mod, but lost some of the best things from BF2.

It may be in the end I just need a change which is not a bad thing since Armed Assault and ET: Quake Wars are on the horizon.

The game is kinda, bleh. Spirnt times are shortened, and the player's life support is like the unlocks. Why not just release the closed beta to everyone as the demo, hmm?

I did like the buddy list, improved server search and very fast verifying times, why not import that into Battlefield 2?

i just realized why it seems to take more shots to kill someone. Everyone prolly has body armor. If you go into the customize screen you can opt to have the armor or not but its on as default. You can take more hits but you cant run as far or as long as without it.

Start a squad once you get the hang of it, call it teamwork, and go to town...ive been doing that and have had tons of fun. Then once you get good at SLing, unlock the beacon and youll have a lot of fun on assaults as you, the SL, can now join in on the assault and if you die, just spawn back in on the beacon! (Im lookin at you Viper)

I dunno fellas, perhaps some are playing a different Demo of BF 2142 than me but I am really enjoying the game. I'm not sure where this whole "arcadey" thing is coming from, it has the same pace as the Battlefield series in my opinion. If you think this game is "arcadey" and are waiting for Quake Wars, you will be disappointed in that regard. I've played Quake Wars at E3 and it's ALOT faster paced and unless they added some new features to the final version there was less squad based play on what I played than BF 2142.

In short: For me, this game is alot crisper and tighter visually than previous BF's. I like the new server interface (buddy list is great), vehicles are a nice mix, weapons and options will come better with unlocks - played with alot in the Beta, the maps of the retail version look great - check out the Berlin map!
So I'm looking forward to the game!

Yeah, the more I play it the more I like it . . . and the more it's obvious I need to upgrade my PC. A wee bit more RAM ought to do it though.

With the Battlefield 2142 demo not quite two days old we have seen a tremendous uptake from players. With such an incredible level of interest in the future of Battlefield everyone is downloading and loggin in to find out what's new.

We are aware that some players are experiencing disconnection problems while playing the demo and this is due simply to the number of players currently being processed for the first time, causing an additional load on systems our end.

We are running checks and making enhancements to our support systems so that these disconnects can be solved as quickly as possible, but apologies for any frustration experienced in the meantime.

Well since I cant play the demo for more than 2 minutes without disconnecting, I cant form much of an opinion. The same problem has been occuring for the past 2 days. Only thing I can say for sure is that there are too many other good games available or in the pipeline for me to open my wallet for this one at this time. Not the best way to launch a demo in my opinion if you actually want customers to buy your game. I thought this was what the beta was for.

I agree with the majority here. Which is a shame because I would LOOOVe a good futuristic game. When I played at first I got a squad that was doingno teamwork. Everyone was on their own. The game had _no_ appeal to me. and I LOOOVE space guns!

When I played on the Tg server it was a blast! I went engie, we had an assault to heal and we rocked shop without vehicles. But our 4-5 man squad eventually got overrun by armour.

Then for some reason I either got teamswitched or the whole squad decided to get rid of me or something because I was all alone in my squad. No idea what I did. But before I noticed that I noticed there was no teamwork. So teamwork completely makes or breaks this game. At least Bf2 had some individual play when you couldn;t find a squad.

Hopefully someone will develop a cool mod Maybe we should!

The disconnects are because EA did not expect so many people logging at the time. First cuple of day they expected just a few people who preordered it through EA downloader... and then the next day they expected those who got it through gamespy... and then big number...

I did not have problem Thursday... But friday I kept disconnecting from the server big time... Remember the Bit Torrent...... Today morning it is fine...

It is not your system or it is no the game... It is the fault of the EA's estimaters...

I am sure they will taje care of it...

Point is it is not the clinet side... It is the server side hick up... it will be sorted out...

Fun, fun and more fun. But do not be selfish. Provide some fun and you will receive some fun.

I have yet to play conquest, every time I try the server is full. I want too see what it is like though.

I think I need more RAM, the game gets pretty jerky, regardless of my graphics settings, which are currently significantly lower than BF2.

Same here. Any chance of setting up reserved slots?

Just wait a few seconds, EA will drop somebody and you will be able to join. I guess that's one good thing about sucky master servers .
