Lightbulb Titan - A Floating BattleShip

I've played a few rounds as Squad Leader and had my squad play some defense on the Titan. One round it dawned on me that, besides defending the Titan against boarding, it makes an extremely effective weapon defending Silos AND as an offensive weapon attacking Silos. I had three members man the lower (to defend silos and harrass ground forces) and upper guns (to ward off aircraft) while the remaining three of the squad defended the interior and the entraces. From what I remember it was very effective.

More importantly, a commander should be able to position the Titan for such a purpose. One round, the Titan position and our squad was able to help keep Silos 2,3,4 (?) (the three centered Silos). Such, it's even more important to have a Commander in BF 2142.

I see the Titan as more than something you board to destory. It's got lots of possibilites as a defensive and offensive weapon.

The guns on that thing are deadly and it has a lot of them. You could dedicate a whole 6 man squad to using the guns.

Yea, I was doing that about 2 rounds ago. The entire strategy went Fubar because my only full squad decided to defend the most distant silo possible (they were about 1/4 of my team since the population wasn't full). That thing is so slow once you commit you can't really retreat, they screwed us all over pretty good.

So those turrets are usable? Where do you go and press 'E' to use them?

There's a spot inside that looks like a bunch of computer terminals and you press E to get in.

Also, once you're in one, you can press the F keys to switch easily from terminal to terminal.

I learned from Xiel that you can repair them by using the Whatever-They-Call-The-Wrench now on the terminal. You can also stay on the terminal even if the gun is destroyed. So if it's getting camped by ground forces have someone else repair it and you can get a shot off instead of wasting time jumping in and out of the seat.

Oh oh... You can also do a pod jump from the titans as well... I am sure some of you already discovered that... But if a titan is between several missiles... The troops can pod in and drop from the skies to those silos from the titan...

Titan seems to be design in a way to be the center of battlefield.

Re: Titan - A Floating BattleShip

Also when a friendly or enemy titan is close the APC pods get powerful again,
so squad could travel long distances with APC pods, from one silo to another

Intresting point Silver, I guess you could try and steer the pods away from the Titan and to a flag.

Re: Titan - A Floating BattleShip

I'm liking all the game play possibilities with the Titan. I lead a squad last night and we used the Titan as a spawn and podded out to capture quite a few Silos. Positioned correctly, it can really cause some havoc.

Re: Titan - A Floating BattleShip

Where to you go to pod out of the titan?

Also, silver, do you actually have to be near the titan to get the APC's super jump? I thought you got it as long as you were in titan mode.

I agree the titan game mode is awesome. It allows for much more strategic and dynamic game mode if played right. The problem is that it is broken. Once the titan battle starts lag just makes it a frustrating experience.

Re: Titan - A Floating BattleShip

No, you have to be near the titan for the pod to go superhigh. You can pod out of an APC anywhere, just you go 15m into the sky and straight down.

When you spawn on the Titan, which is on the flight deck, the Pods are to the left and right and below of the Titan Gun controls, you will see a sign, hit "E" and you are in the Pod and then right click to activate to Pod off the Titan.

When in an APC, and want to activate the Pod, an icon in the APC will indicate the height your Pod will eject. When your within the perimeter of the Titan the indicator will be all the way up, if you are anywhere else, the indicator will be half-way. Though if the Titans are close, you can get a full Pod eject for quite a radius.

I have not had too much lag on the Titan. Has it been on the TG server?
