Re: Who's buying the full version?

Alls well that ends well

Seems to be working flawlessly now.

Pretty fun game, I didnt play the demo or beta too much, I didnt want to ruin the newness of the game til I had it in my hands.

Is there a particular server TG plays 2142 on?

Re: Who's buying the full version?

So is the download available now? I was playing the demo a bit today and the thing is growing on me. I might hit the EA downloader.

It will be in stores tomorrow.

Meddler, we will have a ranked server up and running ourselves.

Re: Who's buying the full version?

the game is fun, the more I play the more I appreciate the tactical nature of the titan game mode.

It is actually quite complex when you start getting into it. Much more objective-oriented than conquest could ever be. I suggest those of you who gave up on this game play it some more and read up on how the titan mode plays.

Re: Who's buying the full version?

Ya there is a huge tactical side to the timer on the silos (which you can check by pressing T in game). Which to attack and which to defend to get that missile off.

Also there is something to be said to letting the enemy take a silo on purpose. Because you can bring a strong counterattack and get another missile off much quicker.

Then where squads go once sheild are down. Need squad to attack, defend, and still take silos. Lots to think about for commanders...thought you were woprn out after commanding a bf2 game.

Re: Who's buying the full version?

EA took everything that made BF2 great, and threw it away. They simplified squad management and orders, because obviously nobody wants to use any of that stuff, they just want to run around shooting people. They made the weapons ridiculous: point your gun in the general direction of the other guy and cross your fingers. Jesus, why not call it BF1742, and just give us muskets? At least then I could wear a snazzy red uniform, and worry about scurvy.

Flying around is boring.

And of course, now they've got advertisements in the game, they don't care about making it fun. They just want as many people as possible to play it as much as possible... so they're making it like a MMORPG. Take away 'skill' and turn it into a contest of who's done the most grinding for their gear. If I want to do mindless grinding, I'll play WoW, thanks. At least WoW gives me elves in skimpy outfits to look at. But EA doesn't care, so long as you keep your eyes on the ads. And they have spyware to target ads at you?? Way to go EA, you've figured out a way to get people to pay to install spyware.

And what's actually new in the game? I don't see significant improvement in the graphics, or the physics. It's a BF2 mod. A laggy BF2 mod. I can play other BF2 mods for free, and they're more fun too.

</rant>

So no, I won't be buying this.

You can right click all the squad orders you used to on the map, it's context sensitive so if a point is your you get 'defend here' if it's enemy it's 'attack' etc. Don't remember if the mine/repair/demolish orders are there but I haven't really seen them used in BF2.

Weapons if anything are more accurate and dependable in my experience with tuning and open beta. Assault rifles rock close and mid range, sub machine guns own CQC, and support guns OMFG supress infantry

Flying.. can't really comment on that beacuse air war is (thank the supreme being) is not a big part of BF2142. I'm sure capable pilots will still make themselves useful in the hovercraft and the troop carrier, but I doubt anyone will sway the ground war with those like in BF2.

The lag from moving titans only happends when titan mode is played in 64 player maps, never ran into it on 48 player servers.

Adverts.. Get used to it, I work in game development and that **** is coming, you can't stop it, so better get used to it along with additional pay-to-use content.

Physics and graphics haven't changed much, but gameplay from my experience has improved ALOT.

I'm grabbing my copy tomorrow (only reason I haven't gotten it yet is beacuse our company store sells it for 10$ )
