Who's buying the full version?

Rather lackluster response from the TG community at large for this game. I went in with the same mindset but after playing the demo, I'm considering purchasing the full version.

My biggest issues with the demo are the zany ranked/unranked/unlock setup and how it will play out on TG's server. The problem I see is that our unranked server will be perpetually dead. There is absolutely no reason for a pubbie to play on a non-ranked server now that unlocks are so critical to the game.

I foresee this game being more of a bunch of pub raids for people on teamspeak together.

I also am disappointed with the new round of DICE bugs. The mech's start break dancing for no reason, I got a CTD the other day, the balance is a bit off, etc.

Anyone notice how the vast majority of people seem to go engineer. With so many enemy vehicles and a gun that doesn't suck, there seems to be little reason to go anything else. That is until you get on the titan and go support.

I'm also peeved at the Titan mode execution. The idea itself is really good. The more I play the mode the more I appreciate the tactics involved. The problem is how they implemented it. The game just lags to all hell when the titans start moving around and you're fighting on it. I mean, it's generally playable, but still.

So, who's for sure buying it? Besides Snail. I know Snail's buying it.

Re: Who's buying the full version?

I am buying it.

I heard (just a rumor... a word of mouth) that beta testers did not experience on Titan Lags even when the Titans were moving around.

Once Support dudes get their mounted turrets and Assaults and Medics get their gears I am sure I will more and more other classes... Who could resist the C7s and a cloaking ability either?

But gotta give it up to the vehicle chasing mines.

*Note: The "d' an "f" buttons on this keyboard are messed up, so please paron any incoherent english.

Alreay pre-orered it, so you'll be seeing me once my internet at home gets fixe (hopefull by Wednesday). The demo din't particularly impress me as far as the game design, but I'm reserving judgement for the specific reason o the unlocks which make up half o this game. In the emo, there are too many "Man, I wish I had X unlock" moments, which I suppose is actually a reason to be excite about the full release.

From what the beta testers have sai, it seems like the unlocks come pretty fast, so maybe after some initial crowding on our ranked server, people will start to migrate over to the unranked servers for the auto-script + admin protecte play.

Re: Who's buying the full version?

I'm really leaning towards 'No' but in fairness voted Undecided. I've not been impressed with my demo experiences so I'm not planning on running out and buying this one tomorrow.

I'll wait and see how it fares here at TG and get some feedback on the actual retail version. Until then, I'm sticking with BF2.

Re: Who's buying the full version?

I'll buy it.

My problem with the game right now is the demo. I don't think it's a good sign that the BF2142 demo is the BF2 demo with mines, shock paddles, C4, etc removed. A normal company would show off the unlock system on the demo. Unless of course there's a horrible game breaking flaw in the system. Knowing it's EA that's a little more plausible then I'd like it to be. Also the Titan mode is almost unplayable if you try to use the Titan in any signifigant way. I don't expect them ever to get that to a truly playable standard.

Despite all of that the game was fun on Conquest. The maps are more infantry friendly and squads can work together since they aren't stretched across a dozen flags so distant that you can barely see the nearest flag. I like the ideas of many of the unlocks like the Squad Leader Drone. So I'll give the game a try but I probably wont buy it on the first day in case there's a game breaking bug because I just don't trust EA.

Me! I have already preordered. I enjoyed playing the Beta and Demo for reasons I've already stated elsewhere and the final version is going to be alot of fun.

I think this whole ranked server talk is overblown for the reasons I posted in another thread. I've played a number of good games on The Bound and Determined server with non-TG members so I think if we have our rules clearly stated we will have plenty of great rounds.

Our unranked server will permit global unlocks. Our ranked server will allow you to earn them.

Re: Who's buying the full version?

I have pre-ordered it and pre-loaded it and I plan to play the first minute its released. I really liked the Demo specially the whole strategic play of the new titan mode. The diffrent strategic options with the unlocks should also give very interesting games.

I have also had some good squad play with pubbies so I am exited about this game even if I have to play with half TG players and half pubbies

Re: Who's buying the full version?

I am definitely buying it.

The field upgrades will be the best part for TG. They reward you for working as a team and you get to keep them the entire time on the server. During the beta test I received multiple field upgrades during a game when my squad was working together, so the upgrades should not be that much of a problem. I can't wait until it until it comes out.

Re: Who's buying the full version?

Will be buying it soon, if not tomorrow. Romping around in mechs and in the hovertank with a buddy over the past few days has been the most fun I've had in a game for quite some time, and I can only imagine the game will get better with unlocks.

The lag in Titan mode is certainly depressing, though
