Re: Boycote EA; Dice Do not buy it, until they fix it!!!!
There are two kind of people in the world. Half empty and half full. I think BF2142 is in the category of half full some think its half empty. One side will try to convince the other.
If BF2142 can get me entertained a couple of hours thats what I ask. BF2 was most likely the best value for the money I got from any game in a long long long time. Imagine all the money WOW players shell out to get the same number of hours of enjoyment.
I say lets play the game before we judge.|TG-Irr| Red

I'm sympathetic to your idea but at what point is the game "fixed" and what "fix" are you referring too? Yes, if there is tremendous lag on the Titan, say, that needs to be fixed. Hopefully that will be corrected at the retail launch.
I mean at what point is a (any) game fixed? It can be a very broad statement. Think of all the fixes that have taken place in BF2, for example.|TG-9th| TheFatKidDeath

Re: Boycote EA; Dice Do not buy it, until they fix it!!!!
Gamespot just reviewed the final release of the game and gave it an 8.1. They didn't mention anything about game stopping bugs, and usually they're good about mentioning issues like that. Maybe the final release has fixed several of the bugs.
The three I've noticed that bother me the most are in the Titan, my zoom reticle, and squad selection. The Titan walls aren't modeled properly and people can fire at you when they appear to be completely hidden. My reticle sometimes has a mind of its own. I'll hit zoom, it'll zoom, and then 1 second later it'll unzoom and then rezoom a second or two later. Many times I find myself unable to select a squad (not because it is full or locked) but because the squad 'join' button for all squads has stopped responding. I have to exit out of the squad selection, respawn somewhere, then reopen the squad selection to get it to work.Telorn

Re: Boycote EA; Dice Do not buy it, until they fix it!!!!
First, i have a nice little thread about the gamespot review here -
http://www.tacticalgamer.com/battlef...ot-review.html
but thanx for letting people know who may have missed it.
Second, the zoom unzoom quirk is part of BF2 and its mods as well...
And third, the reason you have to spawn first, then join a squad is part of patch 1.3. This is so you cant squad hop. As long as you just joined a server, you should have no problem joining a squad before you spawn. If you change teams for example, you have to spawn first. Annoying, yea kinda, but it helps in the long run.

Re: Boycote EA; Dice Do not buy it, until they fix it!!!!
I've never had the zoom issue in BF2 and I played that for a long time from release day. The squad selection wouldn't be so annoying if DICE would have been creative in telling the user in-game that the squad selection is unavailable since you are dead. Thanks for explaining that one!
Now I only have 2 quirks with the game
Although I find it helpful to be able to squad hop when you're dead. If I join a squad and everyone is scattered all over and not grouped together, I'll join the next squad and see if they're together, so on and so on. It helps to do this before you spawn for obvious reasons of spawning with them instead of across the map. I guess then you just suicide. Workarounds

They did a really half-assed job at stopping squad switching. I mean, you can't even create a frickin' squad! Wtf is that!?
Just let me join teh squad but not let be spawn on the SL. Simple.|TG| Lorian

Re: Boycote EA; Dice Do not buy it, until they fix it!!!!
Uh, not exactly. You must not be understanding my point. Yes. You can see where any squad leader is on a map. But, you cannot see if his squad members are with him or spread out over the map until *after* you join the squad. And that was my point. I like to see if a squad is together before spawning with them when I join them.
