Re: Fiirst Impressions on retail
Keep in mind that there is an away feature that allows you to acquire points if you don't get to play that often. I'm not sure of the specifics but you still can acquire points though it obviously is not as quickly as those who play hours on end. If your playing against a player who plays BF 2142 full time and has all the unlocks, well, use your get a life defense, which doesn't take anytime to unlock.

Re: Fiirst Impressions on retail
I think the only problem with the unlock system is that it hampers the switch around between all classes in the same game. I got 7 unlocks in 6 hours and thats almost all assault plus some general I then get field upgrades when playing which gives me a couple more temporary.
I really dont see a big problem cocerning having to play a lot to compete with other players. If 6 hours get me to the top unlocks in Assault, anybody should be able to finish up the unlocks on their favorite class in a short time.
I will favor playing Assault / Medic due to my unlocks but thats what I would do in BF2 as I have trained to play with that kit.|TG-Irr| Red

Re: Fiirst Impressions on retail
I don't play all the time by any means, but I like to think of the times when I'm not playing as giving everybody else a reprieve, not the other way around. ;-)

Re: Fiirst Impressions on retail
It's mainly all about the video card for actual FPS. Now if you're 'studdering' then it can be a lack of CPU/RAM. You may have to turn some settings down more. It is the same engine, but it's slightly enhanced. And the Titans definitely don't make it easier on a video card.

Re: Fiirst Impressions on retail
the problem is i have a vidcard with the necessary oomph (6800GS 256mb) but it's throttled to 4x agp at the moment until i can find and replace my mobo, which i'm nto sure i can do keeping everything i already have inplace.

Re: Fiirst Impressions on retail
6800 is getting old, but with my 6800GT OC with an Athlon 3200 and 1GB I was able to run BF2 on 1280 x 1024 with mid settings without AA/AF.
Now I can do pretty much whatever I want with a C2D e6600, 2GB RAM and x1900XTX 512MB.Telorn

Not if I can help it! This is the reason I volunteered. I really do not mind admining the server for hours if it gives us the playfield we have come to love and expect. When I was on the other day, I thought I reigned them in pretty well. When the server starts rounding our with more TG troops, it will almost police itself. Just going to take some time.

Hovertanks are awesome! What's especially fun is how I'll be doing pretty well in one then freak out and totally forget how to drive, and end up crashing into everything, being unable to turn, running over teammates, etc before I pull myself together.
I've got a few unlocks in support now, just trying to decide what tree to go up next.2142: |TG-Irr| Silverfish

), but it's just frustrating when you lose because someone else has been playing the game longer. If I wanted to deal with that crap I'd PvP in WoW. :P
