Re: Unlocks and you (and us)

I am working on unlocking all the assault unlocks.

Got Def, Health Pack Bonus, Smoke Grenades, Also got the Shotgun.

I got Frag grenades and Speed boost as generic upgrades. Speed boost(Stamina boost is great you can actually run for more than 1 second when you have it. Get rid of the heavy Armor and you will really be able to run. If your just good at staying out of being shot skip that heavy armor. You just have to shoot them before they shoot you..

Remeber that you can go one step up with field upgrades. I realised this and did not spend an unlock on the medic gun. I just wait the first field upgrade to pick this, btw this gun is so much better than the default.

I suggest that you get all the upgrades except the new weapon and take that as a field upgrade for now.

I plan to get the Grenade Launcher for the Assault which is 2 more unlocks then start going the engineer route.

I hope we get the tactical gamer server up soon, so we can start recruiting more TG people to play this great game.

Re: Unlocks and you (and us)

I will probably focus on SL and support unlocks since that is what I an most adept at in bf2. I haven't actually played the retail version yet but I should get in at least 5-10 hours in the next couple of days. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Re: Unlocks and you (and us)

I've got the assault/SL/medic path going, I would prefer assault/SL. We have enough for 2 full squads all ready.

I have played today for the first time and still trying to figure out what all the new gadgets do and how to use them. Severe case of RTFM-phobia.

LOL I was on until about 1:00AM my time and I think I spent more time trying to figure out the gear then playing!

Going assault/Heavy and medic. Then SL unlocks.

Looks like we got a good number of people going for SL unlocks which is good. Can make a fun rotation.

Re: Unlocks and you (and us)

I'm changing my unlock emphasis. I will unlock most / all of the Engineer unlocks, then do Recon. I want my shotgun unlock back, that thing sucks.

I'll skip all of the SL unlocks. If I do want to SL, I'll use a field upgrade for the beacon.

Is that the assault shotty? What's wrong with it - I was thinking of getting it first.

And though I've been asked further up to go support, I'm tempted to just get the heavy assault stuff first then go support, since that's the role I play most in BF2.

Re: Unlocks and you (and us)

The weapons in 2142 are sufficiently powerful that you can take people down very quickly with your full auto rifle in CQB. Having to switch between different firing modes on your weapon is pretty inconvinient, you only have three shots, chambering another round takes too long... Does anybody know whether one shot is sufficient to take down someone wearing heavy body armor in the first place?

If you're going to play assault a lot, you'll need to get that unlock anyways.

Re: Unlocks and you (and us)

I have a big gun. Don't make me splat your brains out from a long way away. :-)

I'm doing Recon. I have the sniper tree so far... next on the list is assault or spec-ops.

Re: Unlocks and you (and us)

Maus,

Support is an extremely good infantry killer and we don't seem to have anyone else going for it. We're gonna need ammo.

It sounds like we have an assault heavy emphasis so far. Knowing what I know now, I'd take another route but I'm already half way up the tree.

We need more:
Support
Spec Ops
Sniper
Medic

and a healthy amount of engineers is never a bad thing.

Well, if you put it that way.

No, we're good on snipers.

I don't want competition.
