Re: Unlocks and you (and us)
I have all medic unlocks, now I'm going AT/engy.
Something went wrong though. I held off on an unlock and now it looks like I lost it.

Re: Unlocks and you (and us)
I've been anti-tank since BF1942. I still am.
I have 7 out of 8 unlocks for Eng/AT. I am not planning on unlocking the Eng anti-air weapon. I had it as a field upgrade and didn't like it at all. I would rather shoot at aircraft with my Pilum H-AVR
I also have nades and the assault's defib unlocked.

Re: Unlocks and you (and us)
Well Im crawling up the Assault/medic ladder. Will do Spec Ops right afterwards.
From what ive noticed we seem to be low on anti-tank capability.

Re: Unlocks and you (and us)
I'm about to start on a new class (currently I have support) -- what are we low on?

Re: Unlocks and you (and us)
I'm confused as to why more people didn't go support - I think its the stigma from BF2. In my experience the support class is more adept at killing infantry than even assault is. The big bonus the assault kit gets is self healing, that has saved my skin so many times.
As far as what we need.... just not assault. Grab the defibs if you want, but don't tech up the tree.
In my squads we still don't seem to have many people who like going engineer. Also the recon/spec ops tree seems to be widely underused. If you tech all the way up to the gun you really get a good kit.
I've also barely ever seen anyone use the rolling mines.. so I'm guessing noone is going up that side of the engy kit.

Re: Unlocks and you (and us)
Yeah -- the whole reason I picked support for 2142 is that I barely played it in BF2, and it's a lot of fun -- there are some nifty toys, like the pulse meter, to unlock. It's also nice to be able to resupply yourself with EMP nades and spam a vehicle til backup arrives.
I'll definitely not be going assault - nine times out of ten I'm assault in BF2 and I want a change. Trying to decide between "spec ops" and "AT."

Re: Unlocks and you (and us)
BTW, you really do have to be careful with what you unlock. I'm at the point now where the unlocks are starting to come quite slowly and I didn't get as far as I thought I might before that started to happen. So unless you play at Snail's pace (lol) plan out what you are going to unlock so you don't have any regrets. Another thing to keep in mind when unlocking is field upgrades. Expect you'll be able to use one unlock above what you got about half way into a round. You can effectively get more unlocks if you spread them out instead of going straight up one side.
That being said, playing a kit with just the basics isn't nearly as rewarding or powerful as playing your kit that you have all the upgrades with. Not only that, but I find that in BF2142 - there is just so much more STUFF per kit that switching actually invovles a bit of a learning curve. My assault kit has ALL 8 weapons slot used and bouncing between kits is a bit confusing.

Re: Unlocks and you (and us)
Support is pretty devestating when used correctly (defensive) and since TG tends to play defensive its awesome. BTW big tip: Have your squad leader place the beacon right next to a very tall building. When spawning you have a chance your drop pod can land on the building. Get setup with your support gun and start covering the nearby flag. I received over 3 combat effeciency pins and held a flag nearly solo doing this. No one thinks to look up yet .
Also, consider the impact of field upgrades. The last few nights I've maxed out (gotten more field upgrades then I can unlock). So you may want to play your unlock strategy around the items you HAVE to have at the begining of the map and those things you can afford to wait for through a field upgrade. Definately DO NOT EVER max out a tree. That sweet gun can be your field upgrade a few minutes in, but if you unlock it, you've given up a field upgrade slot for no reason.

Re: Unlocks and you (and us)
I have both the heavy machine gun side of supprt and the heavy AT gun of engy so i can play either. I was thinking of going up some recon but i think im gonna suck with it. I might just go up the other side of the Engy tree and get the motion mines, just cuz they are so bad ass. Also, get the upgraded sprint, even if its just the first one. It really really helps out during those times you have to hoof it.
