Um. sort of.
When someone calls for a medic you do get an icon on the minimap. The problem is that in your HUD there is no hovering red icon like in BF2.
From what I can tell, someone who needs a medic shows their player icon as a blue X. I've had to rely on just using the uniform colors to locate dead people on my team.

Hehe. Lucky for you! I'm as far up the Spec. Ops. tree as I want to go, so right now I'm debating whether to go up the Engi ladder for the shot gun or up the Medic ladder to actually be useful. Since I'm tired of not getting revived by the 20 assault guys that run over my body when I'm down, I'm leaning heavily toward the Medic ladder.
And just for you, Bommando, I will not suck at life.

I got the full engineer kit unlocked except for the unlock guns which I pick up with field upgrades. Must say this kit is one deadly puppy in CQC with vehicles.

What annoys me the most is the 'random' key bindings to your added kits.
For instance, if I only have the defib equipped, it is 4, but if I equip the shotgun/rocket, it becomes 5. Fine. i got used to it. But then I go and equip the gun unlock and defib now becomes 4 and rocket/shotgun becomes 5.
Come on! How hard would it of been for DICE to set PERMANENT key binding for the special kits? Half the time i want to revive someone I can't because I'm hitting the wrong key and by the time I get it out it's either too late or the window of opportunity ended.
I also don't like having to recustomize my kit every time I join a server. It should save your last kit settings.Telorn

Servers do remember your kit preferences. I've joined many favorite servers that had my last settings.

Seems to me it should be a global preference, not per server. Maybe the hypernia host we had kept screwing up, because TG server hasn't saved my kit.

Okay, I hate being Engy anti-armor, but I'm doing it for the team. My points always blow when doing it. You're always in direct line of fire of the armor and when infantry is around, you don't have much chance of winning unless you get behind someone. I wish they could make it a little more interesting to play.

Learn to love the engineer SMG. This gun is a guaranteed win close up against everything but the recon carabine. Best of all, it's accuracy hardly goes down if you move around so you can circle strafe while spraying at their head
Start at the chest and spray up to the face for the win 
Only drawback is the small number of ammo clips you get, and the fact that you're dead at anything but close range.

Medic is pretty hard in this game. Right now I seem very vulnerable, not sure if its the pace, the deadliness of weapons, or just me sucking it up out there. For some reason I'm always hitting the wrong key for the defibs. Perhaps its the bug above where my field unlocks keep moving the number key. I definately can't get used to the short death timers. It seems like if you aren't 5 feet away, but the time you realize someone is down they have respawned. While you do get the blue circle with an x the minimap seems more cluttered (and most maps have more people in small areas) so that I find it hard to tell who is down and where.
I really enjoy this game, but agree that I rarely get revived and the short spawn timers are pretty annoying.
I've got my core unlocks now, but need to decide if I should go up the left Assualt tree to allow the Baur via field upgrade or do the left side of the engineer tree for the H-AVR AT gun. I'm leaning towards the Baur since I play support 80% of the time. Any thoughts on that gun upgrade?|TG-12th| SHINER

Can't speak for the Baur, but I'm working on the engy tree because I seem to get killed by the AVR pretty often when I'm driving around. It looks useful.
