Gentlemen,

I am aware that there are a lot of reports of lag on the 2142 ranked server. I'm not sure at this point what I can do about it. I am unable to play for more than 2 minutes, and those 2 minutes I am able to play seem to be lag-free.

I am finding numerous reports of lag issues being caused if the Titans are being moved. This could very well be the issue experienced on the TG/B&D ranked server. But as I've said, If I can't stay connected, I can't test.

I'm going to give this a shot over the weekend and try and get it resolved, hopefully EA will have those "Connection to EA Master Server" issues resolved by then as well. This has been an EXTREMELY frustrating past couple days for me with a serious lack of time, a HUGE backlog in work that needs to get done to finish the site redesign (thanks to me being sick and out of commission for the past week). I apologize things aren't running as smooth as normal, but I'm up to my ears trying to get everything resolved.

Well I know in the beta, when the commander moved the Titan, it would cause rubber randing like crazy. I can't believe the issue is still not resolved, not even sure what this very first patch did. This is a known issue then. We should probably try to get people to refrain from moving the titan, and if the issue is still there, then it can at least narrow that down a bit.

The ranked server is temporarily set up for 36 players max on 32-player maps to help with the lag until it is solved.

Hey Apo the master server issue has not affected me at all in retail, and I haven't seen any of the people I play with drop. I'm thinking your firewall is blocking some ports. Just a thought.

Being the actual owner of the server I have been told by a few friends that the server does lag. I have not installed the game yet. So I have not had the chance to check it out. Is this a big issue for everyone or just a few? I checked on the server a few times while at work and it seemed to always be busy.

As for the disconnect problems. Apophis, remember, most new routers have a built in firewall. I also had huge issues with disconnects until I turned off the routers firewall and installed Zone Alarm. Problem solved.

I think the Lag was widespread as everyone in my squad was reporting issues. As I was a beta tester, I'm reasonably familiar with the Titan moving lag and the lag I experienced was not this as the Titans were not moving at all (no commander) and warping was pretty extreme despite a ping of ~40.

No worries about this.. we have plenty of time to hammer these issues out.

I second that. Was playing on a conquest map so no titans and the lag was present. Everyone in my squad was experincing it, and I have played said map on other servers fine...soooo I know it is not a hardware problem.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

Yeah we were on earlier around 6-8 and the rubber banding/warping/lag was pretty abundant on the ranked Titan server. Everyone in my squad was experiencing it so it's something server side. I really do hope this gets resolved because fighting inside the Titan was really fun despite the lag. If we can get a smooth server going then I really think 2142 is going to kick ass.

I understand that it might be a firewall issue causing the dropped connections. But lets get real here for a minute.

I have a firewall with SPI. That stands for Stateful Packet Inspection. If my computer initiates the connection out to EA's Master Server, and EA's server responds with packets and headers with the proper state, they will not be dropped. There is absolutely NO reason to open up ports on a firewall for a game unless you're planning on hosting a server for the game. As long as there are no egress rules in place on the firewall, you should be good to go.

Now. EA (and others) have suggested putting my machine in the DMZ, or disabling my firewall. That's just something I'm not willing to do! Disabling all the security features of my PC and network is a generally bad idea. EA needs to provide remediation for this issue and not push it back to end-users in the form of "turn off your firewall".

Righto, I looked at the DMZ thing more as a troubleshooting step than a long term solution. I guess it kinda proves that the problem is with the way the game is communicating with the master servers and not with the master servers themselves. I'm using a wrt54g with a 3rd party firmware..
