Field Upgrades
Playing on public servers would give me a few field upgrades here and there. But tonight was my first real 2142 TG server night. I got so many upgrades to the point I had nothing left to upgrade!!!!

yea its pretty rediculous when youg et a good squad. Youll get up faster than you know what to do with. I wish they would let you unlock father up the trees though.

I actually took an SL role and we took a flag and held it with the marker down. Something nobody has mentioned before is the Squad Leading bonuses. Obviously you sneaky bastards are keeping it to yourselves. The members get a bonus for what they do individually within a marked zone, but the SL gets bonuses for everything everyone else does in the marked zone.
This is great SL reinforcement. The SL actually gets big bonuses for doing their job properly. They seriously built this whole game around rewarding squad/team play.The Dirty

Do the squad leader bonuses only count towards field upgrades? I get confused at the end of round screen. It says you get such and such squad leader points and sometimes it adds up to a funny career total.
The squad I was in last night did manage to get all field upgrades within 3-4 rounds, maybe less. They kept coming in so fast that I didn't have time to pick them. Eventually that problem was fixed when I picked my last upgrade. It's pretty easy to get them. I kept giving out orders and the squad somehow managed to do something related to it.
Easy as pie.

Squads have huge advantages. Not only do you get free, temporary, unlocks - but you get a free ID of the enemy, and have pretty damn good intel on them.
I played with a sniper who had the netbat fade delay upgrade. With that ugprade, the netbat just gets even more ridiculously awesome.

Yeah,
I was playing last night too - it was my first time to get some really decent play time on BF2142. After a few maps, I had every field upgrade...I honestly didn't know what to do with them all since I was playing as a medic (as usual) and my unlocked upgrades covered everything I needed.
Question regarding the SL points system...Do those actively count towards my career points? If so, are they weighted more or less than direct contributions such as kills and revives? I am typically a 'director' type squad leader, so I use the squad as my weapon, doing comparitively little personal fighting. I did notice that I was getting Squad Contribution Points or something whenever my squaddies were successful. I'd like to know if SL's are forced to get into the thick of it to gain rank.

career points count towards your rank. So.. yes you are going up rank with them. They aren't weighted any differently...

Squad success points even out the fact that a lot of the time SL's cannot afford to play as agressive as regular grunts which translates into a bit less points.
Overall I'm very impressed in how well the point scoring is done. If I'm playing as sniper or AT/Engie I rarely notice a great disaparity in my point totals.
