Talking 572 pts in one round?

While playing on the TG server today I finished a heated battle at Camp Gibraltar. I noticed that I had the top score for my side so I was looking through my score and found that I had somehow gained 572 career points from this one round. I began wondering: "Did I really get over 500 kills?" "Was I finally living up to the name that I gave myself?" or "Did ea reward me for all the times they screwed me over?"

The answer, No. I just gained my assault service badge for wasting my life and playing this game as assault for 15 hours while killing over 20 people in this round , thus getting 500 career points.

Hopefully, when I get another service badge it won't be so surprising.

What the?! We just had a titan round on a pubbie and I thought I was doing good to get 247 in a round! Got 3 titan pins, 2 pins for 5 kill streak, a titan badge, and gold medal. Like 112 points from the round, the rest from pins. Snail had 220+ in the same round. We were defending the titan against a heavy attack and I almost felt like we were stat padding

Re: 572 pts in one round?

I got about 650 points in one round when I got my Silver Squad Leader badge. I had a bunch of commander and SL bonus points, plus a few other badges and pins. Next time I SL for a good round, like that docks one, I'll get my Gold SL badge. I'm really close to my silver recon too... If I time it right 1500+ points in a round. Badge hunting is a fantastic way to get points.

You can go to 2142-stats.com to see your various stats, how close you are to ranks, getting badges, etc... plus your global standing.

I almost have my explosive gold badge. You get so many kills using c4 while defending the titan. =P

Re: 572 pts in one round?

So long as the game forces us to collect points to actually be effective in it, there's going to be a certain amount of obsession about collecting a lot of points easily. Deal with it.

And Badge hunting is the best way to do that. For me, 1500 points is my next rank, and I'll no longer be completely useless against vehicles.

I'm itching to see what some of the big maps are like with 64 players and hour long games.

I'm wondering about the Titan maps though- is it possible to lower the damage the missiles do, or increase the strength of the Titan's shields? Or are we stuck with Titan games being the same length all the time.

Re: 572 pts in one round?

The titan games are sufficiently long if it comes down to the silo missles. At least I think so.

Re: 572 pts in one round?

Oh yeah ... Titan mode. Still not tried that -- I'm scared that my computer will show its age terribly while on-board.

There was a round on Verdun, I think, where I got four medals. I felt like a rich and fortunate man. Don't think it was anywhere close to 572 though.

Quick question about scoring: What is the "commander bonus" I see on the map end screen? Where does it come from (I rarely comm), and does it give me points towards unlocks?

Re: 572 pts in one round?

Man, that's great. I'm a low scoring player so the progression of unlocks has been somewhat slower for me but I've still gotten quite a few. Plus most of my points have been acquired playing as a team and earning team points, so all the better for our team play. Squading up is also a benefit for our ranked server as players who do care about points, it's in their best interest to squad up, play in a squad, follow orders, supply and heal other players which all get you more points. This benefits TG's style of play, earns everyone more points, enhances the game and help keeps our ranked server populated. Not a bad deal.

I'm enjoying the lengths of the rounds on our ranked server. I always thought the rounds on the TG servers are a bit too long. 45 minutes is a long round and the 30 minutes and the smaller ticket count (I think that's the conquest count on BF 2142) does necessarily make for less Tactical game play. Though, I can certainly see the pros and cons of both arguments however.
