Footing The Bill
Well, with much fanfare, we are finally getting a new server.
The drawback is that the dedicated ranked server we ordered is considerably more expensive than any of our other dedicated servers and as such, we're asking for a little extra help from the people who frequent the server. For those who can afford it, it would be awesome if you would consider a Platinum Supporting Membership when you next renew. For those who have been holding off on a Supporting Membership, now would be the ideal time to take the plunge. Now, until we are able to work out a more efficient reserved slot system, I will be manually helping SMs onto the server during weekdays and possibly on weekends also. The admin team will do their absolute best to help everyone, but this will obviously be tough while admins are in game. This is being worked on. Thanks for everyone's support and we hope to keep offering great teamwork-oriented, well-adminned (and reliable) servers for all of you. |

Re: Footing The Bill
I'd like to help out with the new added cost. I became a member about six or seven weeks ago, can I apply what I paid for the Supporting membership to the Platinum? Difference is $40-50 bucks?

Re: Footing The Bill
Hopefully this post will answer some questions. First off, if you have a yearly subscription and want to see how much time you have left. Check out your UserCP and you can see when your subscription expires. Let me also say that none of this is required; being a SM here has always been voluntary. We've added a lot of servers (and lost a number of servers) over the years, but in general out hosting bills have gone up. Games like Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142 have greater CPU requirements than other servers. With some games, we can host 2-3 games per server with no issues. Battlefield 'x' is a different situation completely. It is a rather intensive server and in order to provide the quality level of service that our members expect, we're really restricted to only having one server per box. These boxes tend to be more expensive than those needed for our other games.
For those people with Monthly subscriptions that want to upgrade to Platinum: Be sure you sign into PayPal and cancel your current standard subscription before subscribing under the Platinum level. If you don't cancel your normal subscription, PayPal will end up sending payments twice a month, once for the normal subscription and once for platinum. The way PayPal's subscription system works is the opposite of what most people think. Tactical Gamer doesn't tell PayPal when your payment is due, nor does it request the funds on a monthly basis. The subscriber tells PayPal when PayPal should send money to TG. So the transfer of funds is initiated by PayPal, not TG. For those that have Yearly subscriptions and want to switch to Platinum: This situation is a little more complex. The yearly subscriptions are non-recurring. So once your year is up, your SM status is automatically terminated until you create a new subscription. You could always create a new monthly Platinum subscription, but that won't take into account any time you have left in your Yearly subscription. I could, on a manual basis, work with any individuals that want to convert to the monthly Platinum level. This would involve them sending me a PM with their PayPal address, creating a new Platinum subscription, and then I could refund the remainder of their yearly subscriptions. If you're interested in doing this; send me a PM and we'll work out the details. For those that just want to donate a little extra to TG: That's easy. Just donate whatever you like to paypal@tacticalgamer.com.

Re: Footing The Bill
I wish I could do more but things are tight right now for me and my family and I just can't, sorry. If I can help with my donating some time I would be more than happy to help. If the admins want help with making slots for SM and they want to play I would be more than happy to volunteer anyway I can to help
