Battlefield 2142 Server Evaluation

Due to the problems we had recently with the B&D server in Texas, we were forced to get a new server for BF2142. This didn't sit well with Hypernia as they are certain they can provide a lag-free quality server for Tactical Gamer. Not only did they say they could do it, they put their money where their mouth is and actually set us up TWO Battlefield 2142 servers to test.

These servers have slightly different configurations from a hardware perspective (although for fairness of the test, I don't want to disclose that information) and are in different datacenters. One is in Miami and the other in Dallas.

What do we need to do? Get on these servers and beat on em! We have enough players here to seed full games on both servers, so that's what I would like to see. Please report back here with the server (Either Dallas or Miami) that you were playing on, and what your experiences were. This will help us out greatly!

Many thanks to Hypernia for extending this trial to us.

Server Name: TacticalGamer.com - BF2142 Conquest (Miami)
Player Limit: 64
Game Mode: Conquest
IP Address: 204.13.5.244

---------------------------------------------------

Server Name: TacticalGamer.com - BF2142 Titan (Dallas)
Player Limit: 48
Game Mode: Titan
IP Address: 72.36.194.228

Re: Battlefield 2142 Server Evaluation

Interesting of Hypernia to do this. Did they say how long they'll give the trial for?

Maybe we should start 2 official threads, one for each server, for people to post their experience. You could mention a format to post in, as well, such as time they played, what map(s), mode, how many players, etc...

I only need one official thread. It's easier for me to just come to this one location.

Re: Battlefield 2142 Server Evaluation

The one you put up yesterday 64.something was actually pretty good, I only noticed lag within the Titan and I think that was because of the BF2142 bug.

Re: Battlefield 2142 Server Evaluation

Was just on the Miami server, about 3:30 Central, map was Minsk. Lots of rubber banding, and frequently I saw delays of a few seconds between getting into a vehicle and the vehicle HUD coming up (I'd have the PoV from the vehicle, but my regular weapon would be displayed). My ping on the scoreboard was reported at a pretty normal 45-55. Saw many other players complaining of lag. Server population ~60.

Xeil was on too (not sure about other TGers), maybe he can post his experience of the round.

edit: When I first joined the server (I left and tried again to fix the issue) my rank was Private and I had no unlocks. The second time I joined my rank was still Private but I had all my unlocks. It's probably EA not the server, but you never know.

Re: Battlefield 2142 Server Evaluation

just got off the miami server. Horrible lag. To the point of i had to stop because it was unplayable. Ping was fine ~30. Just lots of rubberbanding and tanks jumping all over the place.

Re: Battlefield 2142 Server Evaluation

Miami server, 4:15, Sidi Power Plant. Server population in the mid to high fifties. Better than Minsk, but noticed:
* People seemingly facing different directions to the direction they were shooting
* ~1sec delays between killing someone and the kill registering and death animation playing
* Noticeable rubber banding in vehicles.
* Same delay between gettign in vehicles and vehicle HUD coming up

Is there some way we can structure these posts to make them easier for you to go through, Apo?

Re: Battlefield 2142 Server Evaluation

Was playing the [edit]Miami[/edit] conquest server earlier, it was ok at first, but it started getting a little laggy when it started filling up.

At one point, I was shooting and some guy, and he literally just disappeared, that was weird...

Re: Battlefield 2142 Server Evaluation

17:30 EST today the Miami server was lagging badly. Everybody cleared out and are mostly on the Dallas server now.

There still seemed to be issues of disconnects between rounds. The delay before the commander vote seems to be gone now.

Nope.. This is fine. As long as you're noting either the Miami or Dallas server, I'm good.

So far, the issues seem to be all on Miami. Anyone been on a full or near-full Dallas server yet?

Please note either Miami or Dallas specifically (as noted in the first post) when reporting any issues.

Re: Battlefield 2142 Server Evaluation

Miami Server:
  • No lag what so ever, ping was in mid 30's.
  • Server population was only me.

Dallas Server:
  • Lag was present but due to the movement of Titans.
  • Rubber banding was there but it was minimal, game is fully playable.
  • Ping was in mid 50's.

Both seemed fine to me, except the usual Titan lag.
