Working the AA turrets
Well, I've tried using them, and I guess I'm just not using them correctly. I point at enemy aircraft, launch a missle (right click), and I keep the crosshairs over my target, but it just doesn't seem to do anything. Little help?

Re: Working the AA turrets
The AA missles never seem to hit for me either. You'd think after all that time with BF2 they'd finally resolve this bug that has plauged them forever now.
Just focus on them with the ol' fashioned AA shells. (left click) At least they gave you that since the missles work for crap. In BF2 it was crappy missles only
I guess that was their bug fix

Re: Working the AA turrets
AA missiles work- I got ten kills with my AA kit in a round yesterday. Just keep firing and always keep the aircraft locked.

Re: Working the AA turrets
And they very well could..but something on the AA turret side of the code is causing the issue before the 'general' AA missle code kicks in? But more likely than not they do different damage and therefore, are different 'missles'.
The stationary turrets may do more damage, for instance, because you can't move with them and fire whenever you want - and usually they're placed in the stupidest locations, if you've noticed, that never face openly over the defense of a flag in the direction that enemies will come, but usually over the boundry of the map where no one ever comes from.
We're definitely dealing with some pretty stupid armies here. They have no idea how to properly place AA and Anti-ground turrets in a location that covers the most vulnerable directions.Telorn

Re: Working the AA turrets
The AA works. I can't fly anywhere around an AA site without my engines shutting down and frustration setting in.

Re: Working the AA turrets
Then those people that shoot you down with their AA turret need to give us pointers
You're positive it's a turret missle and not an engie AA missle or the turret gun?

Re: Working the AA turrets
i dont know why you guys are having a hard time with this. Wait till you get a lock tone, fire BOTH EMP missiles (right click twice in a row) while keeping the lock tone. They usually impact. If both missiles hit, itll bring the engines to a halt, making it easy pickings with the flak guns. Yes, sometimes they dont hit, but IMO they work FAR better than BF2's did.

Re: Working the AA turrets
EMP? They're EMP? Not explosive? That's what's confusing us! We're expecting to see an explosion! What exactly does an EMP do to an aircraft if not shut it's engines down and cause it to crash (because I haven't seen one crash yet from the AA turret missle). It just causes it to respond slowly so it's easier to hit with flak, like you said?

Re: Working the AA turrets
I didn't realise those were EMP missiles either! Now I know what causes the EMP effect.
But, you quickly learn after flying for a bit to maintain a healthy altitude and speed. EMPs last a few seconds, and you can glide a bit if you're moving forwards fast enough. So yeah, that explains why the missiles in the turrets aren't downing many gunships on their own.

Re: Working the AA turrets
Wow.
Yeah they are EMP missles, they do NO damage on their own. Still very effective at killing aircraft though. Because if they are low enough to attack you, two emps will usually force them to hit the deck, which causes quite a bit of damage.

Re: Working the AA turrets
I actually thought the flak was causing the EMP damage. The flak even looks like it should be causing the EMP. IMO the AA design seems like it got worse in the future (you would think weapon designers of the future would've been smarter j/k j/k). It would make more sense to have flak that causes EMP and missiles that actually cause damage, but I understand that it's probably for the sake of game balance, but it would seem balanced considering that gunships have TV missiles and transports have countermeasures.
