Had it happen to me but only if my old beacon was still active. Once I destroyed it I could place the new beacon down.

Yes, I get this too. But this only happens if another beacon is already down. You cannot put down your new beacon even though it declares you are doing so to your squad.

AND the old beacon doesn't show on your map? No green icon or a red circle around a green icon?

Nope, the other beacon is always down and I can see it on the map.

That's the difference. We're talking about an issue where the old beacon is not showing on the ground and a SL cannot lay a new beacon down, nor can anyone spawn on the SL, even after he dies.

It is definitely a bug.

It happened to me again last night. If you swap squad leadership with someone, then swap back, it fixes the problem and you can drop your beacon again.
