Could Battlefield 2142 be a "Live Anywhere" game?

I'm still having trouble with points, promotions, awards, etc. updating on my account. I understand that EA is "hard at work" fixing these problems and that the points still update at some point, but honestly, we all paid 50 bucks for the game and EA should've delivered a product that should work. You don't need me to tell you that points are a really big part of the motivation to play the game and it doesn't seem right that we should have to jump through hoops (logging in and out, connecting and playing on a different server, restarting the game, or waiting a day or two) for EA to recognize the achievements that we've already earned. I was thinking of ways for EA to fix this problem, when I thought of Microsoft's "Live Anywhere." It would seem natural for BF2142 to utilize this to better track achievements, points, and even buddy lists, but does anybody know if there will be ways to patch games to make them part of Live Anywhere? or I guess an even more important question is, would people in the TG community be willing to pay for a Live account if it meant more reliable achievement tracking, user-friendly buddy/friend lists, messaging, updates/patching, et cetera. I'll be getting back on Live when I get my 360 so it won't matter too much for me, but what about the hardcore PC/Vista players? Does this appeal to you even with the 50 dollar subscription price tag?

The question is moot. The chances of them making such a major change to the game at this point are slim to none, and if they were going to invest that much effort, I'd hope they'd spend it on something else (like fixing Titan lag). And no, I wouldn't want to pay another $50 to play the game. I spent $50 already.

I'm sorry if I was unclear, but I wasn't suggesting that a Live account would be necessary to play the game. I was thinking that Live functionality could compliment the game, not be required. Would it really be a "major change"?

Re: Could Battlefield 2142 be a "Live Anywhere" game?

I've never heard of a PC game considering using the XBox Live system. If *every* online PC game, as XBox games, were forced to use the Live system in order to have multiplayer, then I'd be more than happy to pay the $50 a year because it gives you dependable code that already exists and you know how to use it, as do the programmers.

But where only a few games may or may not use the Live system, if that's even possible, no, it's not worth it. It's only worth it on XBox because all games have to use it.

It would be interesting to have a Live community on the PC, though. But I don't see most company's paying MS to use a 'gaming community' when they can just build their own 'get the job done' one.

I seriously doubt you'll ever see EA use live features in any significant way other than on the XBOX platform where MS make it a requirement.
