Re: Patch in the works...
"Last weekend we made updates that resolved the issues causing some awards or stats to not be properly awarded to players. We will be continuing to monitor player experience and the stat servers in order to make the proper adjustments to maintain the system. Unfortunately any stats or awards not received before this update can not be replaced."
And why not? That's no fluffing way to build consumer confidence.2142: |TG-Irr| Silverfish

Re: Patch in the works...
* Titan will no longer be able to move once its shields are down, so that lag within the titan should be significantly reduced and revive inside the titan shouldn’t be a problem any more
Hmm. That's not exactly fixing the issue, is it?2142: |TG-Irr| Silverfish

Re: Patch in the works...
Attention soldiers,
We would like to explain here how committed we are to increasing everyone’s experience with Battlefield, especially regarding the updates for Battlefield 2142. We acknowledge that the patching process could have been smoother for Battlefield 2; we have listened to the feedback and learnt from it.
To accomplish this goal Dice has recently formed a Live Team with the purpose of making sure your playing experience on the Battlefield is as solid as possible after the game is launched. Among other things, the team works closely with the community and handles the patching process, together with the Ranked Server Providers.
Your Dice Live Team is located at the Dice Studio in Stockholm and is made up of key people from the game project teams. This means that the same people who actually built Battlefield 2142 will be responsible for updating it. It has the clear advantage of involving people who are fully knowledgeable about the code and design of the game. The patches will also be thoroughly tested in closed beta tests before being released.
The patches will also be entirely dedicated to correcting bugs and making fixes instead of introducing new gameplay mechanics, thus significantly reducing the risk of introducing new bugs with the patches.
With all this said, we would like to announce patch 1.05 for Battlefield 2142. The patch includes more than 25 fixes which will improve every player’s experience on the Battlefield.
The following fixes will be included, along with many others:
* Titan will no longer be able to move once its shields are down, so that lag within the titan should be significantly reduced and revive inside the titan shouldn’t be a problem any more
* Changes in EA master server communication to greatly reduce disconnects
* Players are now able to receive the Titan Survival Pin
* All players will see the same missile silo location numbers in Titan Mode
Patch 1.05 is scheduled for release later in November so keep watching this space for detailed release information. Also, stay tuned for more information on an upcoming competition allowing you to make your mark in 2142.
See you on the Battlefield!
Your Dice Live Team

If you're the CO you better make sure you aren't about to pass over a missle silo if your shields are low..might get stuck over it and hit by the missle no matter who controls the silo.

Re: Patch in the works...
Uhmm, that missle launch is just an animation and so nothing can 'get in the way' of a missle coming out of a silo that is destined for the team's titan who is not in possesion of that silo.. sorry to kill your dreams of cooler physics in the game.. and speaking of physics why can't we get an upgrade to the collision physics engine, it's really really bad. Just about 15% of the time if I get out of a vehicle and anything is too close to me I die, and if the vehicle is on an incline forget about it, you will die no matter how slow the vehicle is slipping.. also there are huge bugs in the procedures that govern podding (for instance, try landing directly on an un-occupied tank or other armor - you will DIE when your pod lands on it)! LOL The titan restriction in the future patch is not a fix, just a stop gap so they can silence us annoyed players.. it really is going to limit the tactics and possibilities in gameplay. LAME

Yeah, the physics is kind of weird sometimes. Once I touched a friendly walker and got TK'ed. Another time I was happily running between the legs of an enemy walker before some other guy shot me in the back.

Re: Patch in the works...
Considering that if your Titan gets in the way of one of your own missiles you'll take the hit, I think there's more to it than just an animation. Plus, as CO the game tells you the flight paths of the missiles. And anybody who ever flew a lot in BF2 should remember that flying over your own artillery when it's firing is dangerous; DICE likes to model projectiles, not just cause magic explosions.
I suspect that flying a transport over a silo as it launches would probably destroy your transport, although not stop the missile. Still, I'm pretty sure the missiles are in there as actual missiles, because when you consider all the dynamics of missiles flying around the map, it adds a lot more dimension to the game.
