Post Try out all unlocks in Single Player/LAN

Tough unlock decisions weighing you down? Awesome news for you, this guy made a mod that allows all weapons to be played with in singleplayer!

I quote the author.

Quote:
I created an Unlocks mod for Battlefield 2142 similar to the ones I did for BF2/SF.

This mod has everything you could possibly unlock on-line. Because DICE made some major changes to the Soldier kit size in BF2142 I was unable to do what I had originally planned. On that note, however, I was still able to get all the unlocked weapons, tools, upgrades, and abilities into the mod. But I was not able to get every unlock into some of the kits for both armies.

There are some small differences between which army has the unlock. However, all the abilities or weapon upgrades that don't use a key index are included in both the EU and PAC armies depending on the kit (e.g. Stablizer, NetBat, Sprint, Endurance, Extra Grenade, and etc). See the attached kit description file for details. I will also post a video later.

To use the Recon or Sentry drone you must use your "cycle weapons" key (default is key F) to access since DICE did not code key indexes higher than 9. You must be a squad leader in order to use the Beacon, Recon drone, and Sentry drone.

You do NOT use the customization screen since all the kits are pre-loaded.
DL Here

And I almost forgot.

Quote:
No it does not affect your on-line Multi-Play since it is installed to its own mod folder.

Nice. I'll definitely check this out. Been wondering if I wanted to work up the tree to the AT unlock.

Telorn.. you won't regret having the AT gun unlock

Great find fox, I was wondering if I should spend one more point in Assualt to get the Bhar or keep going for access to the motion mines in engineer. Now I can test the gun to see if I like it first.

Re: Try out all unlocks in Single Player/LAN

Yeah. I tried it on this mod. It's pretty nice. I ran under a Walker that was at about half health and shot it in the poop shoot and it blew up. Not bad.

What's also interesting is I learned a technique, from the computer!, on how to take a Walker down (if the walker driver isn't smart..Apparently me!). The AI hover tank came straight at me, threw its shields on, so my rockets bounced off, then strafed right past me (the AI always kept the front of the tank facing me) and went behind me. The Walker was at full health, or really close, and this AI tank did one shot in my rear and I blew up. I was sitting there shocked that an AI just out smarted me. I underestimated the AI and ignored the tank for the enemy walker that was infront of me

So, it may not work so well when it's you vs Walker because a smart walker would stay facing you..but if he's busy on something more dangerous than you, swing behind his rear and shoot it up his butt.

I wouldn't recommend getting any of the gun unlocks straight out. Going all the way up a tree precludes it from being available as a field unlock. If you lone wolf it a lot, then it might be worth it, but I would only unlock everything just before the last item in a tree to leave space for the field unlock.

I have tried the Baur as a field unlock and it has its uses and is great on single shot, but auto gives way too much kick at anything but the shortest range. It makes up for this in stopping power, so as long as you are accurate with your single shots and don't put yourself in auto at medium range, it's an excellent weapon. I am yet to try out the Voss, but I hear from people that it's a little better for the capacity of its magazine, even if it has less stopping power.

A lot of the guns are very selective in their use and are useful on some maps, but not on others. I'd put off using an unlock on them for the fact that you will only find them useful in certain situations. The lower unlocks however have a much more general usefulness.

If you can't decide between the Baur and Mines, I would definitely recommend the mines.

Re: Try out all unlocks in Single Player/LAN

I'm finally able to get the pilum with a field upgrade and man am I happy I did! I've never destroyed more vehicles. It's so much easier to take out a tank/APC because they aren't warned with a beep to throw up their shields. Most drivers never even know what hit them. And I've actually been able to take down a walker or two

I also enjoy using the vehicle scanner with the pilum. This way you can deploy the scanner at a defensive spot and remain hidden without having to peak your head out to see if a vehicle is coming and where it is. The scanner is your eyes for you so you can pop them in the rear without them ever seeing you.

And it is nice to be able to fire and hide. With the regular AT you have to stay out and guide because it usually moves too slow to dumb fire it and actually hit something.

Re: Try out all unlocks in Single Player/LAN

Yeah that AT gun is a real sweety ;D
Its also allot of fun to play with it. Getting in a good position etc , too place a round in a walker vent is awsome ;D
Lot of defense power too vs armor , vehicle scanner , motion mines and the AT gun ;-) You can realy annoy a full enemy squad with those tools while in def ;-)

For me , its my favorit tool.Gives a nice feeling when you kind of snipe a walker in his behind ;DDD

Thanks Bom, I wasn't thinking about spending an unlock on a final tier. That is a huge waste. I put a strategy together in the Unlocks and Us thread that I think balances field and actual unlocks pretty well.
