TG Tag Naming Conventions Retail

It seems that after the old Beta Thread, we are now able to enter special characters into the clan tag prefix for retail, so I decided to start another thread and poll.

Please read the thread on wearing the TG tag before using the tag.

Please let us know which you prefer.

It would be great if everyone adhered to the conventions agreed on by the majority, so we have consistent looking tags in-game.

EDIT: Something is screwy with the poll formatting. Please interpret the choices as follows:

TG-XXth
|TG-XXth|
TGXXth
[TG-XXth]

Note that final consensus was to use the pipes: |TG-XXth| We should all use this method for consistency's sake. Note that you can enter the pipes into the clan tag section when selecting a soldier, but they don't show up when entered. They will however show up in game.

If you have a double digit division, you will need to omit the dash, like so: |TGXXth|

Personally, I like number 2 the best. For some reason the right pipe symbol (|) does not show up on my prefix in game. This is what my name looks like in game:
|TG-12th jmaker.

Also if I remember correctly, you can type the pipe symbol in but you cannot see it in the prefix box. That might be a little bug or something.

If you type it in at sign-in it won't show up in the box, but it will show up in game. The other option is to go to MyDocuments\Battlefield 2142\Profiles\Global.con Open that in notepad and enter it like this:

GlobalSettings.setNamePrefix "|TG|"

I ended up taking the '|' out. It showed up as GLuckyStrike777 in vehicles. That bugs me.

Is the TG tag only for supporting members, or can any forum members use those tags in front of their name?

Anyone can use the tag, as long as they have read and abide by the rules.

There is also a more detailed discussion about wearing the TG tags.

I definitely prefer the 4th one. A majority of the older and respectable clans and communities use [ ] as tag brackets and seems to show up in game consistently (unlike the | |).

And what is the xxth for? Is that just for supporting members or is it some sort of company/division marker?

OK, it's only narrow, but |TG-XXth| has it.

My main reason for starting this thread was to get us all using consistent tags in-game. If everyone could switch over to the pipes, that would be great. Note that you can enter them, but they don't appear in your clan tag input box. Rest assured that they appear in-game.

Also, people with double digit division numbers may find it doesn't fit. If not, remove the dash to preserve the second pipe.
