Re: Learn TG Squad(s) Pledge

I understand that, but where I feel lost is I'm not particulary adaptive at conceiving a new battle plan on the run, and sometimes I just don't know what to do next after my squad has taken a mid-point objective/flag.

Re: Learn TG Squad(s) Pledge

I think a lot of people make being a SL more difficult than it needs to be. You should just do what you would have done if you were alone, but now you have squad mates to help you accomplish your objective (whether it be defend or attack). If you just start out that way, you'll eventually learn the more intricate details of being a SL; like managing kits and using the beacon. Don't be afraid to make a decision on orders; you will make "mistakes" but you know what, you'll learn from them. I think most people don't start off being a good SL. I think most people's first experiences are because they're forced into the role, but it's something that you'll get better at and feel more comfortable with the more you do it.

Re: Learn TG Squad(s) Pledge

Oh yes, and also what Sarc said. It's important to always have your orders current and to always keep in communication with you squad. Don't forget to change attack orders to defend orders once you've taken the CP/Silo, that is, if you plan on defending.

Re: Learn TG Squad(s) Pledge

Thanks Sarc and Rinso for the tips. I'll be sure to apply them more fully next time.

Re: Learn TG Squad(s) Pledge

I think when in doubt on what to do, just defend. That's what I do.

Or if you have a commander, knock him up for orders and you don't have to worry about it

Re: Learn TG Squad(s) Pledge

I never like being a squad leader for two reasons

1) I don't have the sqaud beacon unlocked

2) I enjoy running crazly into the fight even when odds are against me (expecially with the Clark Shotgun)

For those reasons I usually jump off being a squad leader if I become one (from the SL leaving the squad).

Altough I'm always in situations (usually on public servers) where I'm in a squad and no ones giving orders and no one has VOIP and I'm stuck spamming the "Request Order" button to no avail...

I guess I should just give it a shot some day.

Re: Learn TG Squad(s) Pledge

I don't have the squad beacon, either. But it doesn't take long to get it as a field upgrade.

Until you get the upgrade, you just have to play differently. As in stay back out of the action so your guys have a spawn point. This will also help keep your guys in the squad order radius, which will give you your upgrade faster, which will let you join in on the action faster.

Re: Learn TG Squad(s) Pledge

One thing to note if you're leading a LEARN TG squad and decide to call it quits: before you go, be sure to kick everyone from the squad and then close the squad. Otherwise you end up with a LEARN TG squad with zero TG'ers in it

Re: Learn TG Squad(s) Pledge

Not to sound like some Learn TG zealot, but I've actually told some TGer's who have joined my LTG squad to go and form one themselves. So don't take it personally if I ask you to get out of my squad and get your own!

I'd like to see a goal of three LTG squads per round per side. Admin's can this message be reenforced in game or on the load screen? LTG squads are working like a charm and I wanna see the good times keep rolling!

I like seeing this too. It's the reason I formed a new Learn TG squad yesterday. Unfortunately, I was very late making a squad and nobody wanted to join. It's a good thing you pitied me and invited me into your squad.

Make those Learn TG squads ASAP!

Re: Learn TG Squad(s) Pledge

Cool FKD. I did some squad leading again today, but everytime I asked if one of the other TG'ers wanted to lead, they all said: "No thank you". And it's hard being a commander when I've got 2 full squads and 4 single man squads (and don't want to listen to orders). Oh and some Wolf55 kept spawn camping at my base and killing me as I was trying to "command". Was really annoying.

Re: Learn TG Squad(s) Pledge

That's why you get on teamspeak before loading up the game. This way you can inform an admin of the individual and they will kick/ban him from the server.

You should report people who do that.
