Re: Stat padders (on a non TG server)

Glad I've never exploited in the BF series and genuinely hate exploiting (and 'ploiters).

And getting 100 pts...wow, my highest has been only 38 in a round.

EDIT: With a Best Round score of 46, I'm not entirely sure what you're worried about Telorn. Nothing in your round scores points to any sort of stat padding, so I think your explosives research is a little premature.
Legitimate 100 point rounds in titan are possible though. I've seen some TG'ers rack up 200 points defending. It sounded like Telorn's post was expressing concern for those players.

If he meant the TotalBF thread, you're right about that. It'll be tough to catch those curious players though. It's even harder to decide whether the commander at the time was in on the stat padding as well. Some commanders won't even know it's happening and all of a sudden get 500 points without even knowing how to stat pad.

Re: Stat padders (on a non TG server)

Well I was just joking since I don't have any round above 100. I know I'm not about to be reset.

I only tried the ammo supply one round (and that's only because the points didn't rack up. I would have stopped immediately if my score started to rocket to the heavens), but two other rounds I decided to stay on the titan the whole time and man the guns as an engineer. By doing that I gained more points than as support and was very effective at being able to help capture CPs (I'd rain down 'artillery' on the CP to clear the area out to let our team move in and take it. I'd also defend the titan when we'd start being boarded by shooting down transports that try to land on the titan or if they made it, I'd hop in a pod, land on the roof and then blow or steal the transport. I'd also constantly check around and blow up all APCs.

I remember shooting a pilum right into Perry's face when he was sitting in the pilot seat of a transport on MY titan. He promptly blew up with his ship

The career points rack up because you can go a whole round without ever dieing and get combat efficiency pins left and right.

I hear you bro! I've only reached 40...

Ps. Dont take me wrong, I like the more conservative scoring model...a kill should be more worth than re-supplies and revives....

See you out there guys!

I don't agree. This is the way BF2 is, and look how well BF2 promoted team work on ranked servers. The fact that killing doesn't give any more points than support skills is one of the major reasons people in 2142 are more willing to do support things, such as healing/revive/ammo/etc. But even so, you still find the majority of people just running by and fighting even though you're requesting a heal/medic/ammo right next to them.

Re: Stat padders (on a non TG server)

most of my points are from support actions. I get so many points just laying down an ammo crate for my squad. Its great that you dont really need twitch skills to actually gain a significant amount of points in this game.

Re: Stat padders (on a non TG server)

Why would you stat pad.. I play an average of 1.5 hours per day and already have unlocked nearly every item available and certainly enough to make the game very playable as any kit. Do stat padders really like seeing a higher rank next to their name that muich and why would that rank MEAN anything if you cheated to get it?

I'm lost with this next generation...

Actually, not sure that BF2 promoted that much team work, ppl were dropping med packs and supplies only to stat pad, I even saw guys that waited for me to die, so they could get xtra points and revive me. POE2 maximized teamwork...still go back there to play with team oriented guys. I do agree with you, that some ppl tend to walk right pass you even though you're requesting it, but i hope that's not because of the scoring system, but rather just non cooperative players.

But what the heck do i know, I couldn't care less about points and ratios, I just like being in a good squad t-working!

Cheers!

Re: Stat padders (on a non TG server)

Stat padders don't do it for the unlocks. They do it for the recognition. To be named on the top 10 list, etc. Yes, they probably have issues with self worth in life.

Or to make a statement against EA. There are a couple servers out there that have MOTD's encouraging stat padding to show that 2142 is so buggy and to get back at EA for selling buggy crap. It's a stupid way to do it since their ranked server status might be revoked.
