Beefier Knife?

I've heard rumors, and I think I personally picked up the knife myself, but is there another knife you can get out there?

It was huge compared to the default knife, and I think it had a dogtag attached to it on the end. I'm wondering if this "new" knife has any advantages (i.e. quicker attack, longer range, a chainsaw noise upon contact, j/p).

Re: Beefier Knife?

It's the "dogtagger dagger" and its stats are identical to the standard knife -- it's just a new model as a reward for people who need to exalt in being idiots and collecting dogtags instead of fighting like sensible players.

That's a little harsh. I use my knife and don't find it insensible. I don't whip it out if someone is in front of me and I don't go around bunny hopping with it, but if I come up behind a guy or a set of guys, I'll pull out my knife and start knifing them. You'll have a much greater chance of killing all the guys grouped together if you sneak up and knife them rather than opening up on them with a weapon (granted if the knife works).

Now what ticks me off is about 1/2th of the time the knife doesn't work. I'll knife a guy in the back 5 times, even hearing the 'tearing' noise, and he is unharmed. Then he gets up and kills me. That crap really ticks me off.

Re: Beefier Knife?

That's not what I mean. I like knifing people in the back as much as the next person. I just don't like the obvious padders, which this knife basically rewards.

Dogtag Knife???

I heard that if you collect enough dogtags or get enough knife kills (not sure which) you get an upgraded knife. Has anyone heard of this? I don't see anything about it any where so I think he may have been messing with me.

Re: Dogtag Knife???

So is this legendary knife more effective or does it just gold plated or something?

Re: Dogtag Knife???

It's longer and has a tag on the handle. No functional difference.

Yeah, you need to get the Silver Collector's Badge I believe. I just got it yesterday. It's pretty nice to see the little dogtag hanging on the end of my hilt like that.

All you need is 50 unique dog tags. No more, no less.

Re: Dogtag Knife???

If you're looking to get this aesthetic addition to your knife, I suggest hopping into Dog's Dogtag server! I do every once in a while to get warmed up before I jump into the TG server. It's also a pretty quick way to get points toward rank.

Is that a "Knife Only" server? Isn't that against the 2142 ROE?

Re: Dogtag Knife???

Yeah, it's a knife only server. Pretty much on the honor system to actually use a knife..there's no plugin regulating it. Occasionally there's an admin present to enforce the knife only rule.

As for it being against the ROE, I'm not sure.

The same guy hosts a pistol only server as well. Haven't checked that out yet, but I plan to. My pistol skills suck.

Re: Dogtag Knife???

I have been on the pistol server twice. The first time everyone was actually using there pistols. The second people were using what ever they wanted and killing me non stop. So I applied for commander and dropped orbital strikes on there head as often as possible. I did end up getting voted off though .

P.S. I removed my TG tag before playing on this server. I don't want TG to be associated with this type of game play.
