Encouraging Signs
I had a great time playing on sunday, and would like to share my experience. On sunday I had many unknown players playing in the Learn TG squads I joined and I was very happy to see a lot of them really like the TG way of playing and seem to get very comfortable with how we play and talk a fair bit.
I think our ranked 2142 server will be a great recruiting ground for new TG players and those Learn TG squads are key. I think we can improve the play even more if we do three things. I suggest we designate one day a week when we do this.
1. Commander should be a TG player
2. Try to get 3 TG players as squadleaders dont bunch up more than 3 TG players in the same squad
3. Start warning and kicking SLs that dont follow orders from the commander and get people to join the TG squads.

Re: Encouraging Signs
THis was by far the best weekend yet. I had a Learn TG squad exclusivly while playing, and it was kind of nice watching people fight to get in LOL. They are actually peeps out there who want nothing better than what TG has to offer. I think things can only get better when the auto squadless script kicks in
On a side note...there is a disadvantage to being so organized in game
Bommando *cough* I spotted his organized squad of red dots moving on a flag, and convinced my squad that these were TGers and had to be ahnilated to the man!! What ensued was a brief 10 minute all out proxy war of pubies vs pubies being commanded by TGers....*sniff*, it was beautiful

Re: Encouraging Signs
What a good majority of pubbies don't realize is how REWARDING it is to contribute to the team. Consider this short anecdote:
Your squad is guarding a silo. Suddenly a walker shows up. Crap! BUT...
Those 4 motion mines you just seeded at the chokepoint activate and zoom into the walker, destroying it. You just saved your squad's ass.
You can find countless other examples, ranging from the dramatic as above, to the tiny helping hands, like the supply guy giving you ammo or the recon showing you the location of all enemy in the vicinity with his NetBat.

Re: Encouraging Signs
Yeah, regarding the issue that commander should be a TG player or someone who is up for the job. On Friday nigh games, my team commander was a TG guy for about an hour before he quit. It was a damn good hour, even though we were loosing. The next non TG Commander gave us absolutely no order, support or direction. It was Minsk and my PAC team just get slaughtered at the frontline since we didn't get the arty to clear our way. So I decide to take the matter into my own hand 'coz we couldn't munity the CO. I killed him once to get his attention and ask for help. He ignored and just laying around or stole the gunship for himself. So I kill him repeatedly to make him quit. Even though I got kicked but hopefully that will deter idiots from commanding if they are not up to the task.

Go on TeamSpeak and report the guy, teamkilling doesn't help anyone.

Re: Encouraging Signs
Yes. If your commander is never giving orders, engaging in regular combat (as in amongst the soldiers and fighting along side) or possibly just holding the position so he can rack in free extra career points, then get on TeamSpeak and have him kicked.
TK'ing will only get you auto kicked from the server and possibly banned if an admin catches you or is informed of your TK'ing by another. And I don't think most admins will care about the fact that the commander was losy and not doing his job.Telorn

Re: Encouraging Signs
i have only been able to get 2142 to work a few times..but i have to say, i did not like the game...but i want to learn and get good at it...now that i seem to have my connection problems solved, i am going to try like hell this holiday week/weekend to get into the learning squads and actually "learn"...getting yelled at y a 10 year old (what it sounded like) really got me PO'd, but i am determined to play till i get good...
between PoE (which is new to me) and PR, there is little time, but with the learning squads on the server, I am going to make time...
hope to see you guys on tonite and the rest of the week..

Re: Encouraging Signs
If you guys want a TG commander, I'll step up more often since I'm not a big conquest fan. I've been enjoying the commander position and getting a better feel for it. I'm actually at a rank where I can outrank quite a few others to get the position.

Re: Encouraging Signs
Maybe we should create a TG pledge to take the commander seat more often. I am going to try to learn and start putting on the commander hat some.
