Reserved Slots for Supporting Members

Thanks to PanzerHans the code monkey , our Battlefield 2142 servers now support reserved slots for Supporting Members. Please see this thread for details on adding your Battlefield 2142 PID to your forum profile to make use of your reserved slot.

PanzerHans, please post here so we can shower you with rep for your hard work!

Couple things to keep in mind
a) After you add your PID, it may take up to 15 minutes before the server updates from the forums and recognizes you as a supporting member.
b) The scripts will always keep 2 open slots on the server. So, our 50 player server has a cap of 48 players. Non-supporting members may be kicked immediately after joining.
c) The non-supporting member that has been on the longest will be the first person kicked when a supporting member tries to join.

If you notice a bug in any of those, please post in this thread so that we can check it out.

Thanks. Lets hope this brings some good people to our realm and that it helps hold the BF gaming to the standard we want.

Re: Reserved Slots for Supporting Members

The script was offline for some updates. It's back on and making sure reserved slots are available. So give it a shot now.

Re: Reserved Slots for Supporting Members

GREAT JOB!!

I did have a couple of folks complain (2 of which were RL friends) that kicks were happening even when the server wasnt even close to full.. but I let them know that this is new and prolly still have some bugs to fix.. It also gave me time to talk to them about being a SM ;-)

Re: Reserved Slots for Supporting Members

Great job on figuring out how to work a reserve slot script on a ranked server.

However, I'm actually having a harder time joining the server than when I'd ask an admin (granted, an admin doesn't have to stop playing in order to free a spot for me, so the added difficulty of me getting in is acceptable). I was wondering if you considered the possibility of increasing the amount of 'buffer' slots for the script.

Currently we have 2. The issue I keep running into is those 2 buffer slots are constantly full, so you're having to battle to get a spot, just as you did before the reserve slot script. If we increased the buffer to 4 or 6 or more (but still left the MAX player count at 48, maybe the non-supporting members trying to connect will finish loading the game and be kicked before the 4+ buffer slots are full. This way us supporting members aren't fighting for the free slot to connect.

Well, the reason you'd be having a hard time is that your SM status lapsed. You're not actually a SM so you can't take advantage of the reserved slots OR have an admin kick to make you room.
