Looking at TotalBF2142 there seems to be an awful lot of people complaining about their game crashing after a titan round with the new patch. Just when you thought titan was fixed...

A better way to fix the titan lag would be to instead of recording where the player is in the 3D world, instead, when the are on the titan, record where they are on the titan. That way, when the titan moves, everything stays in place, and there would be no lag created. Not sure how feasible that would be though...

I'm sure there are quite a few better ways to have done it, but we'll never know the reasons why DICE went the way they did.

It's leftover code from BF1942. The ships in the water acted the same way. They didn't rewrite it for BF2 since other than little raft boats there weren't any moving ships (and you couldn't move around freely in the rafts anyway since you had to be in a seat) and it was left that way for 2142.
