I'm with Bommando that regardless of preference you will be far more valuable to the squad as an assault with medic abilities.
I prefer the Voss because I'm often engaging multiple targets at medium range simultaneously and the Voss just seems to handly better with my play style. The Baur just has too much deviation (pre-patch) for my liking. Just so you know, you will last alot longer with ANY gun, while you have a medic kit (better to have the advanced kit) laying next to you. I regularly get 10-20 kill streaks because of the inherent engagement advantage I have as a medic in this game.
