Simple things DICE could do to make the game better
Just wondering what suggestions you guys would have for the developers of this game - to include in a future patch. This means, obviously, no new game modes or drastic changes. Also, leave out bug fixes because those go without saying.
I'll add to this list as I think of more:
1. Removing enemy squad beacons from your HUD was a move in the right direction. However, I still don't know if a beacon is friendly or not, although I guess that could be bug related.
What'd I would like to see is a the green HUD marker to show for all friendly beacons, along with the squad number of the owner.

Re: Simple things DICE could do to make the game better
Well, i was trying to think of weapon balance issues since thats usually a first when it comes to patches, but i really cant think of anything. I think they did a GREAT job in making the unlocks not necessarily "better" but just different. So you can choose the one that best suites you. I really wish they could implement a SL to SL comm channel but i dont think thats possible in a patch.
Other than that, im trying to think of any qualms i have in the game and i really cant think of any. Oh wait...please for the love of god, make it so you dont get instant killed by a hovertank youre trying to repair. Ok thats it.

My biggest beef is the way mines are handled. I would like to see the engineers diffusing tool as a player ability unlock ex: nades, extra clip ect. If not that at least make them able to be blown up, or destroyed usuing gun fire.

You can shoot mines with the improved sniper rifle, defuse them with the engineer kit, and disable them with an EMP strike. Mines are alright as they are I believe.
I too would also like to see a green floating number for a friendly spawn beacon. I've run behind a SL too many times to only destroy our own beacon as I run past a beeping sound to count.
As for SL to SL chat? Isn't there an officer speak channel? Its there for the commander to talk to the squad leaders and the squad leaders to talk to the commander. Just steal that and use it to talk between squad leaders as well.
Hovertank? Try the walker. -.- If someone enters the walker it automatically takes a step forward killing everyone in front of it. At least the hovertanks slide at a slow enough speed it just pushes you...unless you park it on an incline that is.My sanity is not in question...
It was a confirmed casualty some time ago.
Light, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I had to kill because they ticked me off.

SL cannot communicate with each other over the commander channel. SLs can only hear the commander on that channel.

They should definitely do something about drop pod behavior around tall buildings. It's not often, but drop pods will occasionally land on out-of-reach rooftops when spawning on beacons.
On an unrelated note, can motion mines be disabled with EMP grenades?

As Snail says SL to SL comms
plus SLers ability to see other SLers waypoints
in other words the tools for SQers to organise things themselves if the CO is absent

Even with the CO present, it helps to have full situational awareness.

They should incorporate that with the NetBat Helmet unlock at least. It's difficult even as a commander commanding when your squads have no clue what other squads are doing. And it is a pain having to explain the situation to squad leaders constantly everytime the situation changes and a CO needs to reposition each squad.

Eliminate bunny hopping.
Battlefield 1942
Battlefield Vietnam
Battlefield 2
Battlefield 2142
And it's still there. The designers at DICE must be a bunch of %#$!&ing bunny hoppers.
Also:
Let us pre-customize our kits, and save that locally so I don't have to redo my layout every time I join a server!

Re: Simple things DICE could do to make the game better
Good points, Jep. It's real annoying to constantly reset my kit. I just figured it was a bug because I thought DICE wouldn't be that stupid..maybe I'm wrong. Any typed text period would do better lower on the screen so they don't get mixed in with kill messages and scroll off before you can even see it.
As for the bunny hopping, at least they half stopped it. You can no longer fire or reload your weapon when you jump, and there is a delay when you land before you can use your weapon. They also delayed use of weapon when you prone to stop the 'dolphin' jump diving. I never see that anymore. To stop bunny hopping altogether might be difficult. Don't you ever have to jump multiple times close together to make it over objects or up a hill? After how many jumps should they stop you and would it really stop bunny hopping?Last edited by Telorn; 11-26-2006 at 08:29 PM.

Re: Simple things DICE could do to make the game better
Don't know if you would consider this a large change or not, but make the game compatible with ctrl-alt-dlt. Every time my game freezes up, I have to give my computer a hard reboot.
Give repair points for fixing the commander's assets; when I play commander I go engineer to fix them, and I think it should give repair points for this.
I like the SLB idea, I like the SL to SL comm. idea, and I like the idea of being ale to see other SL's orders.

Re: Simple things DICE could do to make the game better
They need to fix the commander screen. It shows the quick layout of the squads but it's always wrong. I can't tell what squads are packing which weapons or how many are in the squad without hovering over the squad in the list.
DICE has stated why they won't fix the bunny hopping. It's basically what Telorn says. You can always jump so you can get over obstacles and it really seems like there are a lot of little edges that requires a jump to get over. Even the railway tracks on Camp Gibraltar need a little jump to get over more quickly.
