Re: Spawn camping question

When I see a beacon, I proceed to destroy it immediately. I'd rather not risk dealing with the enemy's reinforcements raining down from above.

Some player was giving reasons to not destroy an enemy's beacon on our titan. He thought it was better to sit back and let the enemies easily board the titan.

I definitely thought it was better to destroy the beacon. It wastes the enemy's time trying to get their SL back on the titan to drop another beacon.

Can you spawn on a SL when a beacon is placed?

Re: Spawn camping question

Nope. If the beacon gets distroyed you cannot spawn on either the SL or the beacon until the SL respawns, or the SL drops another beacon.

Looks like Jex is dreaming of 2142. You keep coming in and asking questions even tho you don't own the game!

Re: Spawn camping question

While playing last night, the SL dropped a beacon. We used it a few times, then it went red on us. We couldn't use it. For a very long time. While waiting to see if it would clear up, someone says that the other team dropped a Hub on it, rendering it inaccessable. Is this an acceptable tactic? It is one thing to camp it and put heat on those dropping in, forcing them to spawn somewhere else. But is it right to actually deny access to the beacon at all?

Re: Spawn camping question

Are you asking whether it's right, or whether it's allowed? It's allowed. Is it right? It doesn't happen very often and it has drawbacks for the person doing it as well. You have to leave a hub there the entire time. If you are somewhere else and you drop another hub, suddenly the squad can now spawn there again. I've thought about it a couple times, but it's just not worth the chance of forgetting about it later, unless you are at a really boring flag.

Standing on a beacon, or placing an object on top of a beacon will prevent people from spawning on it. It's a valid tactic and is one of the risks associated with using a spawn beacon.

Throw your body or a med kit on the beacon. That covers it and makes it in-operable. Then they have to come clear their own beacon before they can drop another one.

Re: Spawn camping question

Ok, new one: I was playing Cerbere Landing this afternoon and I was just in front of the bunker south of Office Ruins, holding enemys off, when a sniper hunted me from their UCB (he was just standing in the middle of the UCB area). Is it legal to shoot back in this case?

Oh nvm, seems like Jepzilla has already cleared this out:

so it looks like it is legal to shoot back.

Re: Spawn camping question

Okay, this thread has been very informative.

And as such, I'm still compiling a list of repeat UCB camp offenders. Those morning hours are rough.

After rereading, Jep's response and Bom's repeat isn't quite clear on the first run through. So to simplify:

The only people you can kill in an enemy UCB would be those who engage you or are repairing assets.
All others are off-limits.

Re: Spawn camping question

I asked this a little while ago and I wasn't able to get a definative answer (I might not have been clear on my point anyway) but:

"Is it legal to go into an enemy UCB and steal their vehicles?"

This has been done a number of times and annoys the hell out of me.

As far as my own morals go - I don't take a vehicle until the flag has been taken and the base is "owned".

The rules are quite clear, and I suggest you review them to find the answer to your question.

Re: Spawn camping question

I've also heard that it's legal to jump in a jeep to escape a UCB. I'm not sure I agree with it, and it seems contrary to the spirit of the rules. Personally I'd say get out how you got in. Bring your own jeep, or walk.
