As far as my own morals go - I don't take a vehicle until the flag has been taken and the base is "owned".
Read the SOPs. They clearly state that you cannot steal enemy UCB vehicles unless in the case where you destroy their assets. In such a case, you can take a FAV to get out of Dodge.

Yeah, it should be acceptable, but I agree with BHack. I frown upon it and find it kinda cheap. Thats why the second I start get spawned killed on my beacon I make sure nobody spawns on it until we can secure the area or set up a new one.

What about if I repaint the bumper numbers and grind the serial number off the door tag and the engine block?

Re: Spawn camping question

What's the call on planting rdx on an enemy vehicle before it's occupied? I've never tried this before, but I was thinking that waiting for someone to grab the vehicle, get it where it's going, and then detonate them just before they can do any good would be pretty funny from my end.

Re: Spawn camping question

funny, yes, but I'd think this is still a no-go.

Re: Spawn camping question

The rules seem clear enough on this too...."vehicles within the UCB are OFF LIMITS."

This happen to me the other day. I wasn't able to get a screenshot in time though.

Now if no one is in the vehicle and you blown the assests and are about to leave. Are the vehicles considered an assest? What I mean is to blow them before anyone is in them so that they have to wait for them to spawn again. This would help in escaping, a FAV doesn't last long with a walker bearing down on it.

Re: Spawn camping question

I think they spawn again right away if you blow them untouched.

That's either a slow FAV, or a very fast walker

Assets refers to the commander assets, i.e., the Orbital Strike thingymabob, the EMP doohicky, the Scanner whatchamacallit and the UAV whosydinky.

Re: Spawn camping question

Augustus, I would think you could do that IF it were NOT in a UCB. In other words, find a flag that is under enemy control (but capturable!), lay some RDX on a tank that just spawned, and wait for some poor unsuspecting soul to occupy it while you quietly find a hiding place near the flag but within sight of the vehicle.

It would be cruel and perhaps not as tactically viable as taking the vehicle itself, but I admit it would be hilarious and technically allowed, especially since you would indeed be capping the flag.. the demo plant is just on the way to the flag cap. ;p

Re: Spawn camping question

I remember people would do that all the time in BF2. They'd lay a mine right infront of the vehicle where you couldn't see it. Got me a few times.

If you read the rules:
