These are all in reference to comments I made, so I feel the need to respond:

I've encountered lag on the conquest server but it's not every game. I understand if your connection is having a bad night, your PC specs don't run titan as well, or titan just doesn't run as well. Don't play titan instead of joining a game and complaining. I thought titan night would be filled with players interested in playing titan.
The lag was horrible. If you didn't experience any lag, then you were the only one. Everyone else seemed to be experiencing it and it made the game unplayable. So much so, that I disconnected to preserve my sanity. I'd be happily driving along in an APC on a straight road, then instantly found myself warping into a tree despite never changing course and got shot by a tank for my trouble. That was the clincher for me.

The squad you were leading were having trouble with cohesiveness, not with dying. We were dying because were weren't cohesive and people kept running in one by one and getting cleaned up with no support. Once you ordered people to watch certain areas and assigned certain people to handle specific objectives as fire teams, things improved dramatically. If your squad is getting hosed and not completing their objective, it's up to the SL to correct the situation and either make them effective or withdraw them from a no-win situation.

In this case, you took charge and assigned them roles which made them more effective. This was exactly what needed to be done and you may have noticed that the squad became instantly more positive when they started making headway. Perfect

The titans were close enough to pod over and laying a beacon would still require players to pod in except to a known location. I thought a recon droid would be more useful and have squad members spawn directly on me.

Maybe it was the way I was leading but I didn't appreciate any of the comments. Negative talk during a game spreads like a disease. It makes it less fun for others and they start to think how much the game sucks. They start to believe the comments. I got frustrated and felt like I was the reason part of the squad wasn't enjoying the game. I was glad that my power went out so I could calm down.

I've been guilty of complaining during a game before. I try to keep it off mic but sometimes it slips. This is just a reminder to keep the negativity out and put any comments in the forums.
At no stage did I hear anyone mention they were able to pod over from the other Titan. The primary concern was not being able to maintain a consistent, cohesive wave against the defenders, who showed moments of weakness, but were able to regroup too quickly when the SL went down. Again, suffering from 'one at a time' death dribbles without a consistent spawn.

If you have a reason for your objective, then state it and tell your squad to shut up or leave. Nobody left your squad, because we were following orders. Nobody took the law into their own hands, but instead diligently just kept running into a deathtrap one by one. Since you may not have noticed this, the dying members were relaying information about their success (or lack of it) to you, the SL. It's up to you to decide how to respond. If you believe the best avenue to take is to keep running into the meat grinder by podding over one by one from our Titan, then you need to tell everyone to shut up and keep doing it. No need to explain yourself. It's your order and it needs to be followed.

I'm not dissing your style, I'm just stating the opinion from the 'complainers'. We were neutralised by the enemy and providing a SITREP. That's what the squad need to do. Then you as SL decide the course of action and say 'this is how it is, so shut up'.

Sorry if your squad ruined your Titan night.

Re: Titan Server

Those are the kinds of suggestions an SL needs during the game. It's not fun to hear complaints or backseat SL'ing. Some of the comments during the game was directed at titan game play and some of it was directed at my SL style. Overall, I felt more like my squad didn't like titan than TG players not liking the way I ran a squad.

Comments were directed at titan being the problem for lag and constant dying. I can't comment on lag because I wasn't having serious problems. Constant dying on titan attack is expected though. A well defended position will result in a lot of deaths. Maybe I should have gone back to silo capping instead of continuing a titan attack. The point is the squad members were subconsciously dictating that the SL should be making the game fun. It's no different than ordering a squad to defend an important silo/flag that has little activity. It sucks sometimes but it has to be done.

Re: Titan Server

I don't know. It's a videogame to me, so I'll happily run into a deathtrap repeatedly if ordered; after all, I'll respawn in 12 seconds provided I'm not magically-revived of my mortal injuries.

The main thing is to give orders. Even if they're bad orders, give orders. Even if you're losing badly, the game can be made fun by a sense of purpose and direction given by a vocal squad leader. Have a plan. Have a good plan. Have a crap plan. Just have some sort of plan. The only wrong decision is INDECISION. If someone's giving you backseat SL'ing or complaining about something, give them a quick explanation then drive on.

If the dude doesn't like it, he'll leave.
