Re: Wish they had an alternative to bunny...
Yeah. It's really simple to use. You won't be pulling any exorcist maneuvers to look behind. The FOV of the IR detector is quite large for version 4. The detector is small and can attach to LCD monitors or sit on top of CRT's. The main worry is strong lighting coupled with reflective surfaces (shiny boxes, mirrors, glass, etc.) behind you. It can mess up IR detection.
Works really well in helo sims. For some reason, looking around in jet sims isn't that bad with a hat switch so TrackIR may not be as useful. It's still nice in any game though because it's so intuitive and easy to look around instead of pressing buttons. What situations do you find it useful to use?
When you don't want hat head (assuming you use a hat to wear the reflector). When would you NOT want to use it?
Nope!Do you ever get whiplash? (heheh)

Re: Wish they had an alternative to bunny...
TrackIR is definitely for flight sim gamers. Check the list of supported games at www.naturalpoint.com. Most of them are flight sims, some are racing sims, and pretty much nothing for FPS.

Re: Wish they had an alternative to bunny...
Yeah...I looked at that Sarc.
Tsk...too bad. I've been out of ideas for techno-gizmos to buy myself for Christmas. I thought this might be the next one, but I think I'll pass on it for now.
Plus, I know my fiancee would point and laugh at me as I tried using it...visions of a slow-motion epileptic seizure were running through my head as I looked at the demo of how to use it, so I know it'd be 10-times worse in real life.

Re: Wish they had an alternative to bunny...
You know what actually...in BF2, I remember that if you were strafing to the side, and you went prone your soldier would actually do a side roll and land in the prone position.
It had minimal lateral motion but the animation was quite good for that manoeuvre. I haven't seen that happen in BF2142 that I know of though.
