In-game billboards
EA is opening up the billboards to suggestions from the player base. http://battlefield.ea.com/adidea/
Sounds like April 1st, 2007 is when the 'real' advertising starts. How diabolical.

Re: In-game billboards
It sounds like there's a possibility that there may never be any real advertising, just made up stuff based on player suggestions. It may be EA caved to the negative press and/or nobody is signing up to advertise due to the negative stigma associated with the advertising in this game.

Or they figured out that it's too expensive and totally not worth it.

I've seen the intel core 2 one around some.

Yeah, I've seen the Core Duo ad but that's about it. I know a lot of people are wary of the spyware but as long as the ads were BF2142-ized I thought the would have been kind of neat.

Re: In-game billboards
It was a bad idea. And some of the billboards are horribly placed...like a billboard next to a dirt road on Sidi power plant...why would there be a billboard there?

Re: In-game billboards
I haven't exactly heard them talk about it, though - has it been decided not to go with the ads?

Re: In-game billboards
They'll go with the paying ads. They will probably use the submitted 'free' ads as filler. You ever see real public service billboards? "Say 'No' to drugs' etc....

Re: In-game billboards
As long as they don't start having ads for Doritos or something (unless they somehow make it futuristic or something) I don't really mind.

Oh, I'm totally in support of Doritos, not just in-game ads of them. The new buffalo wing flavored ones are good!

Re: In-game billboards
How about they put up ads for Spam? I mean, it comes in such futuristic packaging. Why can't we have Spam in the 22nd century?

Re: In-game billboards
Oh great...so they'd spam Spam everywhere.
Sorry, I had to.
